헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 7월 20일 <제 이웃은 누구신가요> Who Is My Neighbor? 복음성경에 “‘네 이웃을 너 자신처럼 사랑해야 한다.'”(마태 22:39)는 말씀이 있습니다. 그렇다면 제 이웃은 누구신가요?  우리는 이 물음에 종종 이렇게 대답합니다. “제 이웃은 이 지구별에 저와 함께 살고 있는 모든 이, 특히 병들고 굶주리며 이승을 떠나고 있는 이, 또 살아가는데 어려움을 겪고 있는 이들입니다.”  예수님의 말씀은 이런 게 아닙니다. 예수님께서는 착한 사마리아인의 비유(루카 10,29-37참조)에서 “누가 저의 이웃입니까?”라는 물음을 이렇게 되물으며 마무리하십니다. "너는 이 세 사람 가운데에서 누가 강도를 만난 사람에게 이웃이 되어 주었다고 생각하느냐?” 예수님께서 분명히 말씀하신 이웃은 옷이 벗겨지고 매맞아 초주검으로 길가에 누워 있는 가엾은 이가 아니라 길을 지나가다 다가온 사마리아인 겁니다. 그이는 “---다가가 상처에 기름과 포도주를 붓고 싸맨 다음, 자기 노새에 태워 여관으로 데리고 가서 돌보아 주었다."는 겁니다. 제 이웃은 절 도와주려고 길을 건너온 사람인 겁니다! "마침 어떤 사제가 그 길로 내려가다가 그를 보고서는, 길 반대쪽으로 지나가 버렸다. 레위인도 마찬가지로 그곳에 이르러 그를 보고서는, 길 반대쪽으로 지나가 버렸다. 그런데 여행을 하던 어떤 사마리아인은 그가 있는 곳에 이르러 그를 보고서는, 가엾은 마음이 들었다. 그래서 그에게 다가가 ---"(루카10,31-34ㄱ) Who Is My Neighbor? JULY 20 “Love your neighbor as yourself” the Gospel says (Matthew 22:39). But who is my neighbor? We often respond to that question by saying: “My neighbors are all the people I am living with on this earth, especially the sick, the hungry, the dying, and all who are in need.” But this is not what Jesus says. When Jesus tells the story of the good Samaritan (see Luke 10:29-37) to answer the question “Who is my neighbor?” he ends by asking: “Which … do you think, proved himself a neighbor to the man who fell into the bandits’ hands?” The neighbor, Jesus makes clear, is not the poor man laying on the side of the street, stripped, beaten, and half dead, but the Samaritan who crossed the road, “bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them … lifted him onto his own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him.” My neighbor is the one who crosses the road for me! "A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was, and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him..." - Luke 10: 31-34a (NIV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
