헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 8월 13일 <친밀함을 나누는 숨겨진 자리> Hiddenness, a Place of Intimacy 숨겨있는 건 영성 생활의 고갱이입니다. 고독, 침묵, 일상의 일들, 큰 계획 없이 사람들과 함께 하는 것, 자고 먹고 일하며 노는 것 등 이 모든 일을 예수님께서는 남들과 다름없이 히시며 사셨으며 우리도 그렇게 하라고 청하십니다. 바로 이 숨겨진 데서 우리는 예수님처럼 “지혜와 키가 자랐고 하느님과 사람들의 총애도 더하여 ”(루카 2,51) 갈 수 있는 겁니다. 또 우리가 하느님과 참으로 가까이 할 수 있고 남들을 참으로 사랑할 수 있는 자리도 바로 이 숨겨진 데인 겁니다. 공생활을 활발하게 하시면서도 예수님께서는 끊임없이 숨겨진 곳으로 가셔 홀로 하느님과 함께 하셨던 겁니다. 우리에게 하느님과 함께 하는 숨겨진 삶이 없다면 하느님을 위해 남들에게 내놓고 하는 삶에는 열매가 맺힐 수 없을 겁니다. "주님의 앞뜰을 그리워하며 이 몸은 여위어 갑니다. 살아 계신 하느님을 향하여 제 마음과 제 몸이 환성을 지릅니다. 만군의 주님 저의 임금님, 저의 하느님 당신 제단 곁에 참새도 집을 마련하고 제비도 제 둥지가 있어 그곳에 새끼들을 칩니다."(시편84,3-4) Hiddenness, a Place of Intimacy AUGUST 13 Hiddenness is an essential quality of the spiritual life. Solitude, silence, ordinary tasks, being with people without great agendas, sleeping, eating, working, playing … all of that without being different from others, that is the life that Jesus lived and the life he asks us to live. It is in hiddenness that we, like Jesus, can increase “in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God and with people” (Luke 2:51). It is in hiddenness that we can find a true intimacy with God and a true love for people. Even during his active ministry, Jesus continued to return to hidden places to be alone with God. If we don’t have a hidden life with God, our public life for God cannot bear fruit. "My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young -- a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
