헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 8월 19일 <가난한 이들 안에 계신 하느님을 뵈온다는 것> Meeting God in the Poor 우리가 제 가난한 모습을 거리낌없이 밝힌다면 남들의 가난한 모습과도 함께 할 수 있을 겁니다. 우리 가난 속에 계시는 그리스도께서 바로 남들 가난 속에 계시는 그리스도이신 겁니다. 우리는 제 가난을 모르는체 하는 것과 마찬가지로 남들 가난도 쉽사리 모르는체 합니다. 또한 난민들과 만나는 걸 마음내켜하지 않고, 몸이 온전치 못하거나 장애가 있는 이를 쳐다보길 꺼려하며, 남들의 아픔과 슬픔에 대해 말하는 걸 피하고, 파산상태에 놓이거나 막막한 처지에 있거나 가난에 몹시 찌들어 있는 이와는 멀찌감치 거리를 둡니다. 이렇게 피하다 보면 하느님께서 우리에게 모습을 드러내시는 남들과의 만남을 잃어버릴 수 있는 겁니다. 하지만 우리가 제 자신의 가난 속에서 하느님을 찾아 뵈온다면 가난한 이를 꺼려하는 마음을 떨쳐버리고 그이들에게 성큼 다가가 하느님을 만나뵙게 될겁니다. Meeting God in the Poor AUGUST 19 When we are not afraid to confess our own poverty, we will be able to be with other people in theirs. The Christ who lives in our own poverty recognises the Christ who lives in other people’s. Just as we are inclined to ignore our own poverty, we are inclined to ignore others’. We prefer not to see people who are destitute, we do not like to look at people who are deformed or disabled, we avoid talking about people’s pains and sorrows, we stay away from brokenness, helplessness, and neediness. By this avoidance we might lose touch with the people through whom God is manifested to us. But when we have discovered God in our own poverty, we will lose our fear of the poor and go to them to meet God. "... and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
