헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 8월 29일 <이승 떠난 이와 동반자가 된다는 것> The Companionship of the Dead 나이가 들어갈수록 기억해야 할 이들, 우리보다 먼저 이승을 떠난 이들이 시나브로 많아집니다. 우리를 사랑한 이들과 우리가 사랑한 이들을 기억하는 건 매우 중요한 겁니다.  그이들을 기억한다는 건 바로 그이들의 영이 우리 일상 생활에 영감을 불어넣는 것을 뜻합니다.  그이들은 우리가 이루고 있는 영성 공동체의 한 부분이 되어 영성의 길에서 결정을 내릴 때마다 살갑게 도와줄 수 있는 겁니다. 부모, 배우자, 자녀, 친구들은 이승을 떠난 다음에 영성의 참다운 동반자가 될 수 있는 겁니다. 때때로 그이들은 우리와 함께 지낼 때보다 이승을 떠난 뒤에 훨씬 더 가까워질 수도 있는 겁니다. 이승을 떠난 이를 기억한다는 건 그이들과 계속 서로 동반하는 걸 선택하는 겁니다. "그러므로, 이렇게 많은 증인들이 우리를 구름처럼 에워싸고 있으니, 우리도 온갖 짐과 그토록 쉽게 달라붙는 죄를 벗어 버리고, 우리가 달려야 할 길을 꾸준히 달려갑시다."(히브12,1) The Companionship of the Dead AUGUST 29 As we grow older we have more and more people to remember, people who have died before us. It is very important to remember those who have loved us and those we have loved. Remembering them means letting their spirits inspire us in our daily lives. They can become part of our spiritual communities and gently help us as we make decisions on our journeys. Parents, spouses, children, and friends can become true spiritual companions after they have died. Sometimes they can become even more intimate to us after death than when they were with us in life. Remembering the dead is choosing their ongoing companionship. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."- Hebrews 12: 1 (NIV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
