헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 9월 23일 (백) 피에트렐치나의 성 비오 사제 기념일] <하느님께서 손수 지으신 것이 거룩하다는 것> The Sacredness of God’s Handiwork 우리는 창조 속에서 어떻게 살고 있는가요? 창조란 "사물들"로 가득차 있는 자리이며 거기서는 모자라는 게 무엇이든지 채우고 싶거나 또 무슨 목표든지 이루길 바라면 이용할 수 있다는 건가요?  아니면  무엇보다도 우선 창조를 성사적 실체(실재·현실), 말하자면 하느님께서 神性의 엄청난 아름다움을 우리에게 드러내시는 거룩한 자리로 여기는가요? 우리가 피조물을 그냥 쓰고 버린다면 마치 제 것인양 여겨서 피조물들에게 있는 거룩함을 알아볼 수 없는 겁니다.  하지만 우리 주위의 모든 것들을 우리를 지으신 같은 하느님께서 지은 것이요 하느님께서 우리에게 나타나시어 예배와 흠숭을 드리라시는 자리로 여긴다면 비로소 우리는 하느님께서 손수 지으신 모든 것들이 지닌 거룩한 특성을 알아볼 수 있는 겁니다. "우러러 당신의 하늘을 바라봅니다, 당신 손가락의 작품들을 당신께서 굳건히 세우신 달과 별들을. 인간이 무엇이기에 이토록 기억해 주십니까? 사람이 무엇이기에 이토록 돌보아 주십니까?"(시편8,4-5) The Sacredness of God’s Handiwork SEPTEMBER 23 How do we live in creation? Do we relate to it as a place full of “things” we can use for whatever need we want to fulfill and whatever goal we wish to accomplish? Or do we see creation first of all as a sacramental reality, a sacred space where God reveals to us the immense beauty of the Divine? As long as we only use creation, we cannot recognise its sacredness because we are approaching it as if we are its owners. But when we relate to all that surrounds us as created by the same God who created us and as the place where God appears to us and calls us to worship and adoration, then we are able to recognise the sacred quality of all God’s handiwork. "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established, what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?" - Psalm 8: 4, 5 (NRSV)   † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘.
