헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 10월 20일 <철철 넘치는 은총이라는 것> Superabundant Grace 몇 백년에 걸쳐 교회는 옳고 그름을 헤아리는 이라면 누구든지 교회를 떠나고 싶어할 정도로 많은 일을 저질렀습니다.  폭력적인 십자군 전쟁, 학살, 권력 투쟁, 억압, 파문, 처형, 사람과 사상을 조종하고 또 끊임없이 거듭되는 분열의 역사를 보는 모든 이들은 소름이 끼칠 정도라는 겁니다. 바로 이 교회가 하느님의 말씀과 하느님의 치유하는 사랑의 성사들을 가온으로 직무를 수행하는 교회라는 걸 믿을 수 있을까요?  교회가 온갖 상처 투성이의 사람들 가운데서 그리스도의 쪼개진 성체를 영원한 삶을 위한 먹을거리로 이 세상에 드러낸 다는 걸 믿을 수 있을까요?  죄가 많은 곳에 은총이 철철 넘치고 약속을 어기고 또 거듭 어겨도 하느님의 약속의 굳건하시다는 걸  믿을 수 있을까요?  믿는다는 건 바로 이런 물음에 그렇습니다하고 대답하는 겁니다. "이렇게 나의 거처가 그들 사이에 있으면서, 나는 그들의 하느님이 되고 그들은 나의 백성이 될 것이다."(에제37,27) Superabundant Grace OCTOBER 20 Over the centuries the Church has done enough to make any critical person want to leave it. Its history of violent crusades, pogroms, power struggles, oppression, excommunications, executions, manipulation of people and ideas, and constantly recurring divisions is there for everyone to see and be appalled by. Can we believe that this is the same Church that carries in its center the Word of God and the sacraments of God’s healing love? Can we trust that in the midst of all its human brokenness the Church presents the broken body of Christ to the world as food for eternal life? Can we acknowledge that where sin is abundant grace is superabundant, and that where promises are broken over and again God’s promise stands unshaken? To believe is to answer yes to these questions.
