헨리 나웬  신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 10월 24일 [백] 성 안토니오 마리아 클라렛 주교 <교회를 사랑한다는 것> Loving the Church 교회를 사랑하는 건 거의 불가능하게 느낄 때가 종종 있습니다. 하지만 우리가 끊임없이 일깨워야 하는 건 교회에 있는 이들이 힘이 있는 이든 없는 이든, 보수적이든 진보적이든, 관용적이든 광신적이든 모두가  이 눈물의 골짜기를 지나가면서 찬미과 감사의 성가를 부르고, 주님의 목소리에 귀를 기울이며, 나눠 먹는대로 계속 불어나는 빵을 함께 먹는 기나긴 증언의 대열에 속한다는 겁니다. 그걸 기억한다면 우리는 이런 말을 할 수 있을 겁니다. "저는 교회를 사랑하며 또 교회에 속하게 되어 기쁩니다" 교회를 사랑하는 건 우리의 거룩한 의무입니다. 교회에 대한 참사랑이 없이는 즐겁고 평화로운 교회생활을 할 순 없는 겁니다. 또 교회에 대한 참사랑이 없이는 남들을 교회로 초대할 순 없는 겁니다. "겸손과 온유를 다하고, 인내심을 가지고 사랑으로 서로 참아 주며, 성령께서 평화의 끈으로 이루어 주신 일치를 보존하도록 애쓰십시오."(에페4,2-3) Loving the Church OCTOBER 24 Loving the Church often seems close to impossible. Still, we must keep reminding ourselves that all people in the Church – whether powerful or powerless, conservative or progressive, tolerant or fanatic – belong to that long line of witnesses moving through this valley of tears, singing songs of praise and thanksgiving, listening to the voice of their Lord, and eating together from the bread that keeps multiplying as it is shared. When we remember that, we may be able to say, “I love the Church, and I am glad to belong to it.” Loving the Church is our sacred duty. Without a true love for the Church, we cannot live in it in joy and peace. And without a true love for the Church, we cannot call people to it. "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
