올해 이 게시판에 첫 글을 올리고 싶었는데

평화방송으로 미사 중계를 보다가 깜빡 글 올리는 것을 잊었네요. ^^

올해 첫마음을 언제나 간직하는 새해가 되길 소망해 봅니다.

1월1일 천주의 성모 마리아 대축일

16그리고 서둘러 가서, 마리아와 요셉과 구유에 누운 아기를 찾아냈다. 17목자들은 아기를 보고 나서, 그 아기에 관하여 들은 말을 알려 주었다. 18그것을 들은 이들은 모두 목자들이 자기들에게 전한 말에 놀라워하였다. 19그러나 마리아는 이 모든 일을 마음속에 간직하고 곰곰이 되새겼다. 20목자들은 천사가 자기들에게 말한 대로 듣고 본 모든 것에 대하여 하느님을 찬양하고 찬미하며 돌아갔다. 21여드레가 차서 아기에게 할례를 베풀게 되자 그 이름을 예수라고 하였다. 그것은 아기가 잉태되기 전에 천사가 일러 준 이름이었다.(루카 2,16-21)

당신은 지금 무슨 생각을 하고 계십니까? 사람들은 말하기를, 하루 일과 동안 당신이 무엇에 몰두하는지 주의 깊게 살펴본다면 자신의 삶에서 중요한 것이 무엇인지 알 수 있을 것이라고 합니다. 당신은 직업에 있어서의 도전이나 요구들을 생각하며 많은 시간을 보내고 계십니까? 어쩌면 재정 문제로 고민하고 있을 수도 있고, 아니면 눈독을 들이고 있는 신형 차나 항상 꿈꿔온 완벽한 휴가를 생각하며 공상을 즐기고 있을지도 모릅니다.

마리아의 정신을 사로잡은 것은 무엇입니까? 그것은 하느님께서 구원의 역사와 마리아의 삶 안에서 이루신 놀라운 일들이었습니다. 오늘 복음은, 목자들이 구유를 떠난 뒤 마리아가 그들이 일러준 천사의 발현에 관한 이야기와 새 메시아의 약속에 관한 말들을 마음속에 간직하고 곰곰이 되새겼다고 말합니다. 루카가 그 장면을 묘사한 것을 보면 마리아가 그날 저녁만 그 사건들을 묵상하며 보낸 게 아닐 것이라는 인상이 듭니다. 오히려, 그 사건들에 이어 더 많은 사건들이 끝없는 사색의 강을 이루었고 마리아는 기도와 묵상 안에서 거듭거듭 그 생각으로 되돌아갔습니다.

새해의 결심을 다지는 이 때, 날마다 마음을 조용히 가다듬고 하느님이 누구시며 무엇을 하셨는지 생각해보는 시간을 가짐으로써 마리아의 모범을 따르라고 하느님께서 당신을 초대하고 계시지는 않는지요? 기도하면서 그렇게 해 본다면 하느님께서 당신 삶에 새로운 전망을 주실 것을 약속하시지는 않을까요?

한 가지 분명한 것은, 성령께서 하느님의 사랑에 대한 새로운 통찰력으로 우리 마음을 가득히 채워주실 때 다른 관심사들은 모두 물러가버린다는 것입니다. 이어서 우리가 하는 활동들이 새로운 관심사들을 반영하는 식으로 변화하기 시작합니다. 하느님의 너그러우신 사랑을 마음속 깊이 새겨 간직하겠다는 목표를 지켜나갈 때 우리는 주님의 사랑과 일치된 삶을 살아야 한다고 생각하게 될 것입니다. 그리고 우리도 마리아처럼 그리스도를 이 세상에 태어나게 하는 사람이 될 것입니다.

“아버지, 이 한 해 동안 당신의 사랑과 힘을 마음속 깊이 새겨

오래 간직하며 살아갈 수 있도록 저를 도와주십시오.

저의 삶을 통하여 주님이 누구신지를 세상에 더욱 밝히 드러내는

2006년이 되게 해 주십시오.”

16 And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; 18 and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. 21 And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.(Lk 2;16-21) ▶ENGLISH BIBLE◀ (누르면 오늘의 영어 매일 미사가 나옵니다.)

What's on your mind? It has been said that if you pay attention to what occupies your mind during the course of a day, you will be able to tell what is important in your life. Do you spend a lot of time thinking about the challenges and demands of your job? Maybe financial worries preoccupy you or perhaps you like to daydream about that new car you've had your eye on, or the perfect vacation you've been wanting to take.

What preoccupied Mary's mind? The wonders that God had worked in history and her life. Today's gospel reading tells us that after the shepherds left the manger, Mary pondered and treasured their story of angelic appearances and their words of  the promise of a new Messiah. The way Luke describes the scene, you get the impression that Mary didn't spend just that evening contemplating these events. Rather, these happenings and so many more became the unending streams of thoughts to which she returned time and time again in prayer and meditation.

During this season of New Year's resolutions, is it possible that God is inviting you to take on Mary's approach by setting aside time each day to quiet your heart and reflect on who he is and what he has done? Is it possible that he is promising to give you a new perspective on your life as you take up this practice in prayer?

One thing we can be sure of: Other concerns will give way as the Holy Spirit fills our minds with new insights into God's love. And by extension, our actions will begin to change to reflect our new preoccupations. As we persist in our goal of treasuring and pondering God's generous kindness, we will feel impelled to live in a way that keeps us connected to his love. And then, like Mary, we too will become bearers of Christ to the world.

Father, help me this year as I dedicate myself

to treasuring and pondering your love and your power.

Let 2006 be a year

in which my life becomes a brighter reflection of who you are.
