헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘 ! 12월 14일 [백] 십자가의 성 요한 사제 학자 기념일 <천국과 지옥> Heaven and Hell 끝내는 모든 이의 만사가 태평해지는 걸까요? 모든 이들이 마침내 불행에서 벗어나고 바라는 모든 게 채워지는 걸까요? 그렇기도 하고 아니기도 합니다! 그렇다는 건 하느님께서는 우리가 하느님 나라에 들어오길 바라시기 때문입니다. 아니라는 건 우리가 선택해야만 그 일이 가능하기 때문입니다. 하느님 나라를 이루는 건 하느님께서 하시지만 우리 안에서 하느님의 사랑을 온전히 볼 수 있게 하시려면 반드시 우리의 사랑으로 하느님의 사랑에 응답해야 하는 겁니다. 죽음에는 두 가지가 있습니다. 우리를 하느님의 나라로 이끄는 죽음과 지옥으로 이끄는 죽음입니다. 요한 사도는 환시에서 천국뿐만 아니라 지옥도 보고 이렇게 말씀하신 겁니다. "비겁한 자들과 불충한 자들, 역겨운 것으로 자신을 더럽히는 자들과 살인자들과 불륜을 저지르는 자들, 마술쟁이들과 우상 숭배자들, 그리고 모든 거짓말쟁이들이 차지할 몫은 불과 유황이 타오르는 못뿐이다. 이것이 두 번째 죽음이다."(묵시 21,8) 하여 하느님과 함께 하길 바란다면 반드시 하느님을 선택해야 하는 겁니다. "성령과 신부가 “오십시오.” 하고 말씀하신다. 이 말씀을 듣는 사람도 “오십시오.” 하고 말하여라. 목마른 사람은 오너라. 원하는 사람은 생명수를 거저 받아라."(묵시22,17) Heaven and Hell DECEMBER 14 Is everybody finally going to be all right? Are all people ultimately going to be free from misery and all their needs fulfilled? Yes and no! Yes, because God wants to bring us home into God’s Kingdom. No, because nothing happens without our choosing it. The realisation of the Kingdom of God is God’s work, but for God to make God’s love fully visible in us, we must respond to God’s love with our love. There are two kinds of death: a death leading us into God’s Kingdom, and a death leading us into hell. John in his vision saw not only heaven, but also hell. He says: “The legacy for cowards, for those who break their word, or worship obscenities, for murderers and the sexually immoral, and for sorcerers, worshippers of false gods or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur” (Revelation 21:8). We must choose for God if we want to be with God. The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come!" And let the one who hears say, "Come!" Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. - Revelation 22: 17 † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘. |
