헨리 나웬 신부님(1932.1.24-1996.9.21)의 오! 그리고 늘! 5월 23일 <예수님의 자화상이라는 것> Jesus' Self-Portrait 예수님께서는 이렇게 말씀하십니다. "마음이 가난한 사람들, 슬퍼하는 사람들, 온유한 사람들, 의로움에 주리고 목마른 사람들, 자비로운 사람들, 마음이 깨끗한 사람들, 평화를 이루는 사람들, 의로움 때문에 박해를 받는 사람들은 행복하다" (마태 5,3-10) 이 말씀에서 우리는 예수님의 자화상을 보는 겁니다. 예수님이 축복받은 분이십니다. 해서 축복받은 이의 얼굴에는 가난, 온유, 슬픔, 주림, 의로움에 대한 목마름, 자비, 마음의 깨끗함, 평화를 이루려는 갈망 그리고 박해의 표지가 있는 겁니다. 복음성경의 온 가르침은 바로 이겁니다. 예수님을 닮으라는 겁니다. 우리에겐 예수님의 자화상이 있는 겁니다. 그 자화상을 눈앞에 늘 바라본다면 우리가 주님을 따르고 그분을 닮는다는 게 어떤 뜻인지 이내 깨닫게 될 겁니다. 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 말한다. 나를 믿는 사람은 내가 하는 일을 할 뿐만 아니라, 그보다 더 큰 일도 하게 될 것이다. 내가 아버지께 가기 때문이다. 너희가 내 이름으로 청하는 것은 무엇이든지 내가 다 이루어 주겠다. 그리하여 아버지께서 아들을 통하여 영광스럽게 되시도록 하겠다. (요한14,12-13) Jesus' Self-Portrait May23 Jesus says: “Blessed are the poor, the gentle, those who mourn, those who hunger and thirst for uprightness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and those who are persecuted in the cause of uprightness” (Matthew 5:3-10). These words offer us a self-portrait of Jesus. Jesus is the Blessed One. And the face of the Blessed One shows poverty, gentleness, grief, hunger, and thirst for uprightness, mercy, purity of heart, a desire to make peace, and the signs of persecution. The whole message of the Gospel is this: Become like Jesus. We have his self-portrait. When we keep that in front of our eyes, we will soon learn what it means to follow Jesus and become like him. "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." - John 14:12-13 (NIV) † 성부와 성자와 성령의 이름으로 아멘. |
