저작권 협회에 위임된 곡들은 원 저작자인 작곡자의 이익 및 저작권 협회의 이익을 위해 그 저작권을 보호 받고있습니다.
새 성가집이 나오게 된 것은 어쩌면, 이전에 출판되어 문제없이 사용하던 출판물이 - 저작권보호정책이라는 뒤늦은 정치적 행위에 의해 - 저작권을 침해한 출판물로 오인 받는 가운데 주교회의와 저작권 협회 또는 작곡자와의 저작권 협의가, 상황이 허용하는 기간 안에 타결되지 않은 까닭으로 인한 것은 아닐런지요?
물론, 결과와 함께 그 허물을 질타하는 분들도 있으시겠지만, 성가집을 구입하려는 신자들이 계속 기다리는 상황에서 우리가 주교회의의 입장이라면 어떤 결정을 내릴 수 있었을까요?
저작권은 보호받아야 마땅한 것임에 어느 누구도 부정하지 않을 것입니다만, 이번 일이 저희 모두에게 상처가 될 것 또한 부정하기는 어려울 것입니다. 시간이 좀 더 지나가면, 좀 더 차분히 돌아 볼 수 있겠지요? 지름길이 만들어 지지 않았으니, 다음 성가집이 나올 때까지 다른 길로 조금 돌아가야겠지요?
