너희는 주님께서 하시는 말씀을 들어라. “너희는 일어나 산들 앞에서 고소 내용을 밝히고 언덕들이 네 목소리를 듣게 하여라.” |

Hear, then, what the LORD says: Arise, present your plea before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice! |

산들아 땅의 견고한 기초들아, 주님의 고소 내용을 들어라. 주님께서 당신 백성을 고소하시고 이스라엘을 고발하신다. |

Hear, O mountains, the plea of the LORD, pay attention, O foundations of the earth! For the LORD has a plea against his people, and he enters into trial with Israel. |

내 백성아, 내가 너희에게 무엇을 하였느냐? 내가 무엇으로 너희를 성가시게 하였느냐? 대답해 보아라. |

O my people, what have I done to you, or how have I wearied you? Answer me! |
| 4 |
정녕 나는 너희를 이집트 땅에서 데리고 올라왔고 종살이하던 집에서 너희를 구해 내었으며 너희 앞으로 모세를, 아론과 미르얌을 보냈다. |

For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, from the place of slavery I released you; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. |

내 백성아, 기억해 보아라, 모압 임금 발락이 무슨 계략을 꾸몄는지 브오르의 아들 발라암이 그에게 무엇이라 대답하였는지 시팀에서 길갈에 이르기까지 무슨 일이 있었는지. 그러면 너희가 주님의 구원 업적을 알게 되리라. |

내가 무엇을 가지고 주님 앞에 나아가고 무엇을 가지고 높으신 하느님께 예배드려야 합니까? 번제물을 가지고 일 년 된 송아지를 가지고 그분 앞에 나아가야 합니까? |

With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow before God most high? Shall I come before him with holocausts, with calves a year old? |

수천 마리 숫양이면, 만 개의 기름 강이면 주님께서 기뻐하시겠습니까? 내 죄를 벗으려면 내 맏아들을, 내 죄악을 갚으려면 이 몸의 소생을 내놓아야 합니까? |

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my crime, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? |

사람아, 무엇이 착한 일이고 주님께서 너에게 요구하시는 것이 무엇인지 그분께서 너에게 이미 말씀하셨다. 공정을 실천하고 신의를 사랑하며 겸손하게 네 하느님과 함께 걷는 것이 아니냐? |

You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God. |

주님께서 도성에 외치시는 소리다. ─ 당신의 이름을 경외함은 슬기입니다. ─ 지파야, 도성의 회중아, 들어라. |

Hark! the LORD cries to the city. (It is wisdom to fear your name!) Hear, O tribe and city council, |

“내가 악인의 집에 있는 악의 보물들과 저주받은 엉터리 에파를 잊을 수 있겠느냐? |

Am I to bear any longer criminal hoarding and the meager ephah that is accursed? |

내가 부정한 저울을 거짓 추가 담긴 주머니를 옳다고 할 수 있겠느냐? |

Shall I acquit criminal balances, bags of false weights? |
| 12 |
도성의 부자들은 폭력을 일삼고 그 주민들은 거짓을 말하며 그들 입 안의 혀는 속이는 말만 한다. |

You whose rich men are full of violence, whose inhabitants speak falsehood with deceitful tongues in their heads! |
| 13 |
그러므로 나도 너의 죄 때문에 너를 치고 파멸시키기 시작하였다. |

Rather I will begin to strike you with devastation because of your sins. |
| 14 |
너는 먹어도 배부르지 않고 배고픔이 네 안에서 없어지지 않으리라. 네가 무엇을 따로 떼어 놓아도 그것을 보존할 수 없고 무엇을 보존하더라도 내가 그것을 칼에 넘겨 버리리라. |

You shall eat, without being satisfied, food that will leave you empty; What you acquire, you cannot save; what you do save, I will deliver up to the sword. |

네가 씨를 뿌려도 거두어들이지 못하고 올리브를 짜도 네 몸에 기름을 바르지 못하며 포도를 밟아도 포도주를 마시지 못하리라. |

You shall sow, yet not reap, tread out the olive, yet pour no oil, and the grapes, yet drink no wine. |

너는 오므리의 규정과 아합 집안의 모든 행위를 따르고 그들의 뜻에 따라 걸었다. 그러므로 나는 너를 폐허로 만들고 너의 주민들을 비웃음 거리로 만들리라. 그리하여 너는 내 백성의 치욕을 짊어지리라.” |

You have kept the decrees of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you have walked in their counsels; Therefore I will deliver you up to ruin, and your citizens to derision; and you shall bear the reproach of the nations. |
