해가 바뀌어 임금들이 출전하는 때가 되자, 요압은 군대를 이끌고 나가 암몬 자손들의 땅을 짓밟으며 라빠까지 가서 그곳을 포위하였다. 그때에 다윗은 예루살렘에 머물러 있었다. 요압은 마침내 라빠를 쳐서 무너뜨렸다.

다윗은 그들 임금의 머리에서 왕관을 벗겨 자기가 가졌는데, 그 무게를 달아 보니 금 한 탈렌트나 되었고 거기에는 값진 보석들이 박혀 있었다. 이제 그것은 다윗의 머리에 얹혀졌다. 다윗은 그 성읍을 털어 아주 많은 전리품을 가져오게 하였다.

그는 또 그곳의 백성을 데려다가 톱질과 곡괭이질과 도끼질을 시켰다. 다윗은 암몬 자손들의 성읍마다 이렇게 하였다. 그러고 나서 다윗과 모든 군대는 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.

그 뒤에 게제르에서 필리스티아인들과 싸움이 일어났다. 그때에 후사 사람 시브카이가 르파임족의 후손들 가운데 하나인 시파이를 쳐 죽이자, 필리스티아인들이 굴복하였다.

갓에서도 싸움이 일어났다. 거기에는 거인이 하나 있었는데, 손가락 발가락이 여섯 개씩 스물넷이었다. 그도 르파임의 후손이었다.
