Hear this word, women of the mountain of Samaria, you cows of Bashan, You who oppress the weak and abuse the needy; Who say to your lords, "Bring drink for us!"

▶ 사마리아 산에 사는 바산의 암소들아 이 말을 들어라. 힘없는 이들을 억압하고 빈곤한 이들을 짓밟으며 “우리가 마실 술을 가져와요.” 하고 저희 남편들에게 말하는 여자들아!

The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness: Truly the days are coming upon you When they shall drag you away with hooks, the last of you with fishhooks;

▶ 주 하느님께서 당신의 거룩함을 두고 맹세하셨다. “보라, 정녕 그때가 너희에게 다가온다. 사람들이 너희를 갈고리로 끌어가고 너희 가운데 마지막 한 사람마저 낚시로 채 가리라.

You shall go out through the breached walls each by the most direct way, And you shall be cast into the mire, says the LORD.

▶ 너희는 뚫린 성벽으로 한 사람씩 곧장 끌려 나가 하르몬으로 내던져지리라.” 주님의 말씀이다.

Come to Bethel and sin, to Gilgal, and sin the more; Each morning bring your sacrifices, every third day, your tithes;

▶ “너희는 베텔로 오너라. 그리고 죄를 지어라. 길갈로 오너라. 그리고 더욱더 죄를 지어라. 아침에 너희의 희생 제물을 바치고 셋째 날에 너희의 십일조를 바쳐라.

Burn leavened food as a thanksgiving sacrifice, proclaim publicly your freewill offerings, For so you love to do, O men of Israel, says the Lord GOD.

▶ 누룩 든 빵을 감사 예물로 살라 바치고 큰 소리로 자원 예물을 공포하여라. 이스라엘 자손들아 이런 것들이 너희가 좋아하는 것이 아니냐?” 주 하느님의 말씀이다.

Though I have made your teeth clean of food in all your cities, and have made bread scarce in all your dwellings, Yet you returned not to me, says the LORD.

▶ “나도 너희의 모든 성읍에 끼닛거리를 없애고 너희의 모든 동네에 먹을거리가 모자라게 하였다. 그런데도 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

Though I also withheld the rain from you when the harvest was still three months away; I sent rain upon one city but not upon another; One field was watered by rain, but another without rain dried up;

▶ 나는 또 수확을 석 달 남겨 놓은 채 너희에게 비를 내리지 않았다. 어떤 성읍에는 비를 내려 주고 어떤 성읍에는 비를 내려 주지 않았다. 어떤 밭은 비가 내리고 어떤 밭은 비가 내리지 않아 말라 버렸다.

Though two or three cities staggered to one city for water that did not quench their thirst; Yet you returned not to me, says the LORD.

▶ 그리하여 물을 마시려고 두세 성읍에서 한 성읍으로 비틀거리며 몰려들어도 아무도 실컷 마시지 못하였다. 그런데도 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

I struck you with blight and searing wind; your many gardens and vineyards, your fig trees and olive trees the locust devoured; Yet you returned not to me, says the LORD.

▶ 나는 마름병과 깜부깃병으로 너희를 치고 너희 정원과 포도밭을 황폐하게 하였다. 또 너희 무화과나무와 올리브 나무는 메뚜기 떼가 먹어 치웠다. 그런데도 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

I sent upon you a pestilence like that of Egypt, and with the sword I slew your young men; Your horses I let be captured, to your nostrils I brought the stench of your camps; Yet you returned not to me, says the LORD.

▶ 나는 너희에게 이집트 흑사병을 보내고 너희 젊은이들을 칼로 죽였으며 말들은 잡혀가게 하였다. 또 너희 진영의 악취가 올라와서 너희 코를 찌르게 하였다. 그런데도 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

I brought upon you such upheaval as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah: you were like a brand plucked from the fire; Yet you returned not to me, says the LORD.

▶ 나 하느님이 소돔과 고모라를 뒤엎은 것처럼 너희를 뒤엎어 버리니 너희가 불 속에서 끄집어낸 나무토막처럼 되었다. 그런데도 너희는 나에게 돌아오지 않았다. 주님의 말씀이다.

So now I will deal with you in my own way, O Israel! and since I will deal thus with you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel:

▶ 그러므로 이스라엘아, 내가 너에게 이렇게 하리라. 내가 너에게 이렇게 하리니 이스라엘아, 너의 하느님을 맞이할 준비를 하여라.”

Him who formed the mountains, and created the wind, and declares to man his thoughts; Who made the dawn and the darkness, and strides upon the heights of the earth: The LORD, the God of hosts by name.

▶ 보라, 산을 빚으시고 바람을 창조하신 분 당신의 뜻을 사람에게 알려 주시는 분 아침노을을 어둠으로 만드시는 분 땅의 높은 곳을 밟고 가시는 분 그 이름 주 만군의 하느님이시다.
