“너희는 와서 내 빵을 먹고 내가 섞은 술을 마셔라.

|
|

|

빈정꾼을 꾸짖는 이는 수치만 당하고 악인을 나무라는 이는 오점만 남긴다.

▶ He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.

|
빈정꾼을 나무라지 마라. 그가 너를 미워하리라. 지혜로운 이를 나무라라. 그가 너를 사랑하리라.

▶ Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

지혜로운 이에게 주어라. 그가 더 지혜로워지리라. 의로운 이를 가르쳐라. 그가 견문을 더하리라.

지혜의 시작은 주님을 경외함이며 거룩하신 분을 아는 것이 곧 예지다.

|
|

우둔함이라는 여자는 안절부절못하고 어리석어 아무것도 알지 못한다.

▶ The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.

그 여자는 자기 집 대문에, 성읍 언덕에 자리 잡고 앉아

▶ She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,

길을 가는 이들을, 제 길을 똑바로 가는 이들을 부른다.

그러나 어리석은 이는 그곳에 죽은 자들만 있음을, 그 여자의 손님들이 저승 깊은 곳에 있음을 알지 못한다.
