젖먹이는 목말라 혀가 입천장에 달라붙고 어린것들은 빵을 달라고 애원하건만 그들에게 한 조각 주는 이가 없구나.

맛있는 것만 먹던 아이들이 거리에 쓰러져 움직일 줄 모르고 자주색 옷에 싸여 업혀 다니던 아이들이 쓰레기 더미를 껴안고 있구나.

내 딸 백성의 죄악은 소돔의 죄보다 더 크다, 누가 손을 대지도 않았는데 삽시간에 멸망해 버린 소돔보다도.

그 여자의 나지르인들은 눈보다 깨끗하고 우유보다 하야며 몸은 산호보다 붉고 그 몸매는 청옥과도 같았는데.

그들의 모습은 검댕보다도 까맣게 되어 거리에서 사람들이 알아보지 못하고 살가죽은 뼈에 달라붙어 장작처럼 메말랐구나.

인정 많은 여인들의 손이 제 자식들을 잡아 삶았구나. 내 딸 백성이 파멸할 때 자식들이 어미들의 양식이 되었구나.

주님께서 당신의 분노를 죄다 터뜨리시고 당신 진노의 열기를 퍼부으시어 시온에 불을 지르시니 그 토대까지도 타 버렸다네.

세상 임금들도 땅의 주민들도 모두 믿지 않았다네, 적과 원수가 예루살렘 성문 안으로 들어오리라고는.

예루살렘 예언자들의 죄와 사제들의 죄악 때문이라네. 의인들의 피를 그 안에 흘린 저들 때문이라네.

그들은 피투성이가 되어 눈먼 이들처럼 거리에서 비틀거리니 그들의 옷을 아무도 건드릴 수 없었다네.

▶ They staggered blindly in the streets, soiled with blood, So that people could not touch even their garments:

“비키시오, 부정한 자요!” 사람들이 그들에게 소리 지르네. “비키시오, 비켜! 건드리지 마시오.” 그들이 비틀거리며 도망다니는데 민족들 사이에서 사람들이 말하네. “저들은 여기에 더 이상 머무르지 못하지.”

▶ "Away you unclean!" they cried to them, "Away, away, do not draw near!" If they left and wandered among the nations, nowhere could they remain.

주님께서 친히 그들을 흩어 버리시고 그들을 다시는 살펴보지 않으셨다네. 사람들은 사제들을 우러르지 않고 원로들을 동정하지도 않았다네.

▶ The LORD himself has dispersed them, he regards them no more; He does not receive the priests with favor, nor show kindness to the elders.

헛되이 도움을 바라느라 우리 눈은 멀어 버렸다네. 구해 주지도 못하는 민족을 고대하며 우리는 망루에서 눈을 떼지 않았다네.

저들이 우리 발걸음을 뒤쫓으니 우리네 광장으로 갈 수도 없었다네. 우리의 끝이 가까웠구나, 우리의 날수가 찼어. 그래, 우리의 끝이 다가왔구나.

우츠 땅에 사는 딸 에돔아 기뻐하고 즐거워하여라. 너에게도 술잔이 건네지리니 너도 취하여 벌거숭이가 되리라.

▶ Though you rejoice and are glad, O daughter Edom, you who dwell in the land of Uz, To you also shall the cup be passed; you shall become drunk and naked.

딸 시온아, 네 죄벌은 끝났다. 그분께서 너를 다시는 유배 보내지 않으시리라. 딸 에돔아, 그분께서 너의 죄를 벌하시리라. 너의 죄악을 드러내시리라.
