파스카 축제를 준비하다 Invitation to the Passover
1 히즈키야는 온 이스라엘과 유다에 사람을 보내고, 에프라임과 므나쎄에는 편지를 써 보내어, 예루살렘에 있는 주님의 집으로 와서 주 이스라엘의 하느님을 기리는 파스카 축제를 지내라고 하였다. 1 히즈키야는 온 이스라엘과 유다에 사람을 보내었다. 에브라임과 므나쎄에는 예루살렘, 야훼의 성전에 와서 과월절을 지키며 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼를 기리라고 편지를 띄웠다. 1 Hezekiah sent a message to all Israel and Judah, and even wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh saying that they should come to the house of the LORD in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover in honor of the LORD, the God of Israel.
2 임금이 대신들과 예루살렘의 온 회중과 의논하여 두 번째 달에 파스카 축제를 지내기로 한 것이다. 2 왕은 대신들과 온 회중과 더불어 의논하고 이월에 과월절을 지키기로 하였다. 2 The king, his princes, and the entire assembly in Jerusalem had agreed to celebrate the Passover during the second month,
3 그들이 제때에 파스카 축제를 지내지 못한 것은 자신들을 거룩하게 한 사제들의 수가 충분하지 못한 데다, 백성이 예루살렘에 모이지 않았기 때문이다. 3 제때에 과월절을 지키지 못한 것은 부정을 씻고 하느님께 몸바친 사제가 적었고 백성이 예루살렘에 미처 모이지 못했기 때문이었다. 3 for they could not celebrate it at the time of the restoration: the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient numbers, and the people were not gathered at Jerusalem.
4 임금이 보기에, 그리고 온 회중이 보기에 그 계획이 옳았으므로, 4 그렇게 하는 것이 왕과 온 회중의 생각에도 옳아보여 4 When this proposal had been approved by the king and the entire assembly,
5 임금은 브에르 세바에서 단에 이르기까지 온 이스라엘에, 주 이스라엘의 하느님을 기리는 파스카 축제를 예루살렘으로 와서 지낼 것을 선포하기로 결정하였다. 그때에는 율법에 쓰인 대로 파스카 축제를 지내는 사람들이 많지 않았다. 5 예루살렘에서 과월절을 지켜 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼를 기리도록, 브엘세바로부터 단에 이르기까지 이스라엘 전국에 포고령을 내리기로 결정하였다. 그 때는 규정대로 과월절을 지킨 사람이 많지 않았던 것이다. 5 they issued a decree to be proclaimed throughout all Israel from Beer-sheba to Dan, that everyone should come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover in honor of the LORD, the God of Israel; for not many had kept it in the manner prescribed.
6 그리하여 보발꾼들이 임금과 대신들에게서 편지를 받아들고 온 이스라엘과 유다를 돌아다니며, 임금이 명령한 대로 이렇게 전하였다. “이스라엘 자손들이여, 아브라함과 이사악과 이스라엘의 하느님이신 주님께 돌아오시오. 그래야 주님께서도 아시리아 임금들의 손아귀에서 살아남은 여러분에게 돌아오실 것이오. 6 파발꾼들은 왕과 대신들에게서 편지를 받아 이스라엘과 유다 전국을 돌아다니며 어명을 선포하였다. "이스라엘 백성들아, 아브라함과 이사악과 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께 돌아오라. 그래야 야훼께서도 아시리아 왕들의 손아귀에서 살아 남은 사람들에게 돌아오실 것이다. 6 Accordingly the couriers, with the letters written by the king and his princes, traversed all Israel and Judah, and at the king's command they said: "Israelites, return to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you, the remnant left from the hands of the Assyrian kings.
7 여러분은 여러분의 조상들이나 형제들과 같아서는 안 되오. 그들이 주 저희 조상들의 하느님을 배신하였으므로, 여러분이 보다시피 그분께서는 그들을 놀람거리로 만드셨소. 7 너희 선조들, 너희 동족들은 저희들을 돌보시는 하느님 야훼께 반역하다가 너희들이 보다시피 그 참혹한 일을 당하였다. 그러니 너희는 그들과 같이 되지 않도록 하여라. 7 Be not like your fathers and your brethren who proved faithless to the LORD, the God of their fathers, so that he delivered them over to desolation, as you yourselves now see.
8 이제 여러분은 여러분의 조상들처럼 목을 뻣뻣하게 하지 말고 주님께 손을 내미시오. 그리고 그분께서 영원히 성별하신 그분의 성소로 와서 주 여러분의 하느님을 섬기시오. 그래야만 그분께서 당신의 타오르는 분노를 여러분에게서 돌리실 것이오. 8 너희 선조들처럼 고집부리지 말고 야훼께 순종하여라. 영원히 당신의 것으로 삼으신 성소에 와서 너희 하느님 야훼를 섬겨라. 그리하면 하느님께서 당신의 진노를 거두시리라. 8 Be not obstinate, as your fathers were; extend your hands to the LORD and come to his sanctuary that he has consecrated forever, and serve the LORD, your God, that he may turn away his burning anger from you.
9 여러분이 주님께 돌아오면, 여러분의 형제들과 자식들이 자기들을 사로잡아 간 자들에게 동정을 얻어 이 땅으로 돌아오게 될 것이오. 주 여러분의 하느님은 은혜롭고 자비하신 분이시므로, 여러분이 그분께 돌아오면 여러분에게서 얼굴을 돌리지 않으실 것이오.” 9 너희가 야훼께 돌아와야 너희 겨레, 너희 자녀들을 사로잡아 간 자들이 그들을 불쌍히 여겨 이 땅으로 돌려보내 줄 것이다. 야훼께서는 너희를 고이 보시고 뜨겁게 사랑해 주신다. 당신께로 돌아오기만 하면 결코 너희를 외면하시지 아니하시리라." 9 For when you return to the LORD, your brethren and your children will find mercy with their captors and return to this land; for merciful and compassionate is the LORD, your God, and he will not turn away his face from you if you return to him."
10 보발꾼들이 즈불룬에 이르기까지 에프라임과 므나쎄 지방의 이 성읍 저 성읍을 두루 다녔지만, 사람들은 보발꾼들을 비웃고 놀려 댔다. 10 파발꾼들은 에브라임 지방과 므나쎄 지방을 이 성읍 저 성읍 돌아다녀 즈불룬에까지 이르렀지만 사람들은 코웃음치며 그들을 놀려주기만 하였다. 10 So the couriers passed from city to city in the land of Ephraim and Manasseh and as far as Zebulun, but they were derided and scoffed at.
11 다만 아세르와 므나쎄와 즈불룬에서 몇몇 사람이 자신들을 낮추고 예루살렘으로 왔다. 11 그래도 아셀과 므나쎄와 즈불룬 사람들 가운데서 머리를 숙이고 예루살렘으로 오는 사람이 더러 있었다. 11 Nevertheless, some from Asher, Manasseh and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.
12 유다에도 하느님의 손길이 미쳐, 주님의 말씀에 따라 임금과 대신들이 내린 명령을 수행하도록 한마음을 주셨다. 12 유다에서만은 하느님께서 사람들을 감화시키셨다. 야훼의 말씀을 따라 왕이 대신들과 함께 내린 명령을 따를 마음이 모든 사람들에게 일어났던 것이다. 12 In Judah, however, the power of God brought it about that the people were of one mind to carry out the command of the king and the princes in accordance with the word of the LORD.
파스카 축제를 성대히 지내다
13 둘째 달에 많은 백성이 무교절을 지내려고 예루살렘으로 모여 왔다. 아주 큰 회중이었다. 13 그리하여 이월에 많은 사람이 예루살렘에 모여와서 무교절을 지키게 되었다. 아주 많은 회중이 모였다. 13 Thus many people gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Unleavened Bread in the second month; it was a very great assembly.
14 그들은 일어나 예루살렘에 있는 제단들을 치우고 분향 단들도 모두 치워, ‘키드론 골짜기’에 내다 버렸다. 14 그들은 우선 예루살렘에 있는 제단들을 헐고 분향단을 모조리 뜯어내어 키드론 골짜기에 가져다 버렸다. 14 They proceeded to take down the altars that were in Jerusalem; also they removed all the altars of incense and cast them into the Kidron Valley.
15 그리고 둘째 달 열나흗날에 파스카 양을 잡았다. 사제들과 레위인들은 부끄러움을 느끼며 자신들을 거룩하게 한 다음, 주님의 집으로 번제물들을 가져왔다. 15 그리고 이월 십사일에 과월절 양을 잡았다. 사제들과 레위인들은 부끄러운 생각이 들어 야훼의 성전에 번제를 바쳐 부정을 벗고 하느님께 몸을 바쳤다. 15 They slaughtered the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and Levites, touched with shame, sanctified themselves and brought holocausts into the house of the LORD.
16 그들은 하느님의 사람 모세의 율법에 따라 법규로 정해진 자리에 섰다. 사제들은 레위인들의 손에서 피를 받아 뿌렸다. 16 그리고 하느님의 사람 모세의 법을 따라 정해진 자리에 섰다. 사제들은 레위인들에게서 피를 받아 뿌렸다. 16 They stood in the places prescribed for them according to the law of Moses, the man of God. The priests sprinkled the blood given them by the Levites;
17 그런데 회중 가운데에는 자신들을 거룩하게 하지 못한 사람들이 많았다. 그래서 레위인들은 부정한 탓으로 주님께 파스카 양을 봉헌하지 못하는 모든 이를 위하여 파스카 양을 잡는 일을 맡았다. 17 회중 가운데는 부정을 벗지 못한 사람들이 많았다. 그래서 레위인들은 사람 하나에 과월절 양 한 마리씩 잡아 부정을 벗겨주어야 했다. 17 for many in the assembly had not sanctified themselves, and the Levites were in charge of slaughtering the Passover victims for all who were unclean and therefore could not consecrate them to the LORD.
18 그러나 많은 백성, 주로 에프라임과 므나쎄와 이사카르와 즈불룬에서 온 사람들이, 율법에 쓰인 대로 하지 않고 정결하지 못한 몸으로 파스카 양을 먹었다. 그래서 히즈키야는 그들을 위하여 이렇게 기도하였다. “선하신 주님께서 이들을 용서하여 주시기를 빕니다. 18 많은 사람들이 부정을 벗지 못한 채 과월절 양을 먹어 기록된 규정을 어겼다. 에브라임, 므나쎄, 이싸갈, 즈불룬 사람들이 대부분 그랬다. 그래서 히즈키야는 그들을 생각하고 기도를 올렸다. "어지신 야훼여, 용서하십시오. 18 The greater part of the people, in fact, chiefly from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves. Nevertheless they ate the Passover, contrary to the prescription; for Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, "May the LORD, who is good, grant pardon to
19 이들은 성소의 정결 예식을 따르지 않았지만, 저마다 하느님을, 주 자기 조상들의 하느님을 찾기로 마음을 굳힌 사람들입니다.” 19 이 사람들은 선조들의 하느님 야훼를 찾기로 마음을 정한 사람들입니다. 그러니 비록 부정을 벗지 못하여 하느님 앞에 나올 수 없는 몸이라 하지만, 그 죄를 벗겨주십시오." 19 everyone who has resolved to seek God, the LORD, the God of his fathers, though he be not clean as holiness requires."
20 주님께서는 히즈키야의 기도를 들으시고 백성이 화를 입지 않게 해 주셨다. 20 야훼께서는 히즈키야의 기도를 들으시고 그들을 살려주셨다. 20 The LORD heard Hezekiah and spared the people.
21 예루살렘에 모인 이스라엘 자손들은 크게 기뻐하며 이레 동안 무교절을 지냈다. 레위인들과 사제들은 주님을 위하여 웅장한 소리를 내는 악기를 들고 날마다 주님을 찬양하였다. 21 예루살렘에 있던 온 이스라엘 백성이 기뻐 어쩔 줄을 모르며 칠 일간 무교절을 지키는데, 레위인과 사제들은 날마다 온 힘을 다 내어 야훼께 찬양을 불러 올렸다. 21 Thus the Israelites who were in Jerusalem celebrated the feast of Unleavened Bread with great rejoicing for seven days, and the Levites and the priests sang the praises of the LORD day after day with all their strength.
22 히즈키야는 능숙한 솜씨로 주님을 섬기는 모든 레위인에게 격려의 말을 해 주었다. 이렇게 그들은 친교 제물을 바치고 주 저희 조상들의 하느님을 찬송하며, 이레 동안 축제 제물을 나누어 먹었다. 22 히즈키야는 레위인들이 훌륭하게 야훼를 찬양하는 것을 보고 칭찬해 주었다. 이렇게 하여 칠 일간 친교제물을 잡아 바치고 선조들의 하느님 야훼께 감사 찬송을 부르며 절기를 지켰다. 22 Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had shown themselves well skilled in the service of the LORD. And when they had completed the seven days of festival, slaying peace offerings and singing praises to the LORD, the God of their fathers,
23 그런 다음에 온 회중이 또다시 이레 동안 축제를 지내기로 의견을 모았다. 그래서 그들은 다시 이레 동안 축제를 기쁘게 지냈다. 23 그러나 온 회중은 다시 칠 일간 절기를 연장하기로 합의하였다. 더구나 기뻐하며 칠 일을 지킬 수 있었던 것은 23 the whole assembly agreed to celebrate another seven days. With joy, therefore, they continued the festivity seven days longer.
24 유다 임금 히즈키야가 회중에게 황소 천 마리와 양 칠천 마리를 내놓고, 대신들도 회중에게 황소 천 마리와 양 만 마리를 내놓았기 때문이다. 그때에 많은 사제들이 자신들을 거룩하게 하였다. 24 회중에게 유다 왕 히즈키야가 소 천 마리와 양 칠천 마리를, 대신들이 소 천 마리와 양 일만 마리를 내놓았기 때문이었다. 많은 사제들이 몸을 거룩케 하는 예식을 치렀다. 24 King Hezekiah of Judah had contributed a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep to the assembly, and the princes had contributed to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep. The priests sanctified themselves in great numbers,
25 유다의 온 회중을 비롯하여 사제들과 레위인들, 이스라엘에서 온 모든 회중, 이스라엘 땅에서 넘어온 이방인들, 유다에 사는 거류민들도 함께 기뻐하였다. 25 사제와 레위인을 비롯하여 유다 회중, 이스라엘에서 온 회중, 이스라엘에서 온 외국인과 유다에 살던 거류민들도 함께 기뻐하였다. 25 and the whole assembly of Judah rejoiced, together with the priests and Levites and the rest of the assembly that had come from Israel, as well as the sojourners from the land of Israel and those that lived in Judah.
26 이렇게 예루살렘에 큰 기쁨이 넘쳤으니, 이스라엘의 임금 다윗의 아들 솔로몬 시대 이래 예루살렘에서 이 같은 일은 없었다. 26 그렇게 기뻐한 일은 이스라엘의 왕 다윗의 아들 솔로몬 시대 이후로 예루살렘에 일찍이 없었다. 26 There was great rejoicing in Jerusalem, for since the days of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel, there had not been the like in the city.
27 레위인 사제들이 일어나 백성을 축복하자, 그 축복하는 소리를 주님께서 들으셨다. 그들의 기도도 그분의 거룩한 처소 하늘까지 이르렀다. 27 사제들과 레위인들은 백성들에게 복을 빌어주기 시작하였다. 그 기도가 하느님 계시는 거룩한 곳, 하늘에 미치니 하느님께서는 그 소원을 들어주셨다. 27 Then the levitical priests rose and blessed the people; their voice was heard and their prayer reached heaven, God's holy dwelling.
