“누가 나를 억누르리오?” 하고 말하지 마라. 주님께서 기필코 징벌하시리라.

▶ Say not: "Who can prevail against me?" for the LORD will exact the punishment.

|
“죄를 지었어도 내게 아무 일도 없었지 않은가?” 하지 마라. 주님께서는 분노에 더디시기 때문이다.

▶ Say not: "I have sinned, yet what has befallen me?" for the LORD bides his time.

속죄를 과신하지 마라. 죄에 죄를 쌓을 뿐이다.

▶ Of forgiveness be not overconfident, adding sin upon sin.

|
“그분의 인자함이 크시니 수많은 내 죄악이 속죄받으리라.”고 말하지 마라. 정녕 자비도 분노도 다 그분께 있고 그분의 진노가 죄인들 위에 머무르리라.

주님께 돌아가기를 미루지 말고 하루하루 늦추려 하지 마라. 정녕 주님의 분노가 갑자기 들이닥쳐 너는 징벌의 날에 완전히 망하리라.

아무 바람에나 키질하지 말고 아무 길에나 들어서지 마라. 두 혀를 지닌 죄인의 짓이 그러하다.

네가 이해했거든 이웃에게 대답하여라. 그러지 못했거든 손을 입에 얹어라.

영광과 치욕은 말에 있고 인간의 혀는 파멸이 될 수도 있다.

중상꾼으로 불리지 않도록 하고 네 혀로 올가미를 놓지 마라. 부끄러움이 도둑에게 닥치고 엄한 단죄가 두 혀를 지닌 자에게 떨어지리라.
