나도 그들에게 가혹한 것을 선택하여 그들이 두려워하는 것을 들이닥치게 하리라. 내가 불러도 대답하는 자 아무도 없었고 내가 말하여도 그들은 듣지 않았으며 내 눈에 거슬리는 짓만 하고 내가 좋아하지 않는 것만 선택하였기 때문이다.”

내 말을 떨리는 마음으로 받아들이는 이들아 주님의 말씀을 들어라. 너희를 미워하는 동포들, 내 이름 때문에 너희를 배척하는 자들이 “주님께서 당신의 영광을 드러내시어 너희가 기뻐하는 모습을 우리가 볼 수 있게 해 보아라.” 하지만 수치를 당할 자는 바로 그들이다.

이를 보고 너희 마음은 기뻐하고 너희 뼈마디들은 새 풀처럼 싱싱해지리라. 그리고 주님의 종들에게는 그분의 손길이, 그분의 원수들에게는 그분의 진노가 드러나리라.

한가운데에 있는 자의 뒤를 따라 정원에 들기 위하여 자신을 거룩하게 하고 정결하게 한 뒤 돼지고기와 부정한 짐승과 쥐 고기를 먹는 자들은 자기네 행동과 생각과 함께 멸망하리라. 주님의 말씀이다.

나는 그들 가운데에 표징을 세우고 그들 가운데 살아남은 자들을 타르시스와 풋, 활 잘 쏘는 루드 투발과 야완 등 뭇 민족들에게 보내고 나에 대하여 아무것도 듣지 못하고 내 영광을 본 적도 없는 먼 섬들에 보내리니 그들은 민족들에게 나의 영광을 알리리라.
