민족들이 야곱 집안을 맞아들여 고향으로 인도해 줄 것이다. 이스라엘 집안은 주님의 땅에서 그 민족들을 남종과 여종으로 차지하고, 자기들을 포로로 잡아간 자들을 포로로 잡아 오며, 자기네 압제자들을 지배할 것이다.

화를 내며 쉴 새 없이 민족들을 내리치고 성을 내며 사정없이 핍박하고 겨레들을 짓밟던 그 홀을.

▶ That struck the peoples in wrath relentless blows; That beat down the nations in anger, with oppression unchecked.

온 세상은 안식과 평온을 누리고 사람들은 기쁨에 넘쳐 소리 지르네.

방백나무들도 너 때문에 기뻐하고 레바논의 향백나무들은 말하네. “네가 쓰러진 뒤로는 우리를 베러 올라오는 자가 없다.”

땅 밑 저승은 너를 위하여 너의 도착을 환영하려고 소란을 떨며 너를 위하여 세상의 수령이었던 그림자들을 모두 깨우고 민족들의 임금을 모두 그 왕좌에서 일으켜 세우는구나.

너는 네 마음속으로 생각했었지. ‘나는 하늘로 오르리라. 하느님의 별들 위로 나의 왕좌를 세우고 북녘 끝 신들의 모임이 있는 산 위에 좌정하리라.

▶ You said in your heart: "I will scale the heavens; Above the stars of God I will set up my throne; I will take my seat on the Mount of Assembly, in the recesses of the North.

모든 민족의 임금들은 저마다 제 능묘 속에 영광스럽게 누워 있지만

▶ All the kings of the nations lie in glory, each in his own tomb;
|
|

|
너는 사람들이 꺼리는 유산아처럼 무덤도 없이 내던져져, 구렁의 돌바닥으로 내려가는 살해된 자들, 칼에 찔려 죽은 자들로 옷처럼 뒤덮이고 발에 짓밟히는 송장처럼 되었구나.
