Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

▶ 주님의 말씀이 나에게 내렸다.

|

|
You, son of man, would you judge, would you judge the bloody city? Then make known all her abominations,

|
▶ “너 사람의 아들아, 네가 심판해야 하지 않느냐? 이 피의 도성을 심판해야 하지 않느냐? 이 도성에게 자기가 저지른 역겨운 짓들을 모두 알려 주어라.

and say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the city which sheds blood within herself so that her time has come, and which has made idols for her own defilement.

▶ 너는 말하여라. ‘주 하느님이 이렇게 말한다. 사람의 피를 쏟아 자기의 때를 재촉하는 도성, 우상들을 만들어 자신을 부정하게 만든 도성아!

By the blood which you shed you have been made guilty, and with the idols you made you have become defiled; you have brought on your day, so that the end of your years has come. Therefore I make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all foreign lands.

▶ 네가 쏟은 피로 너는 죄를 지었고, 네가 만든 우상으로 너는 부정하게 되었다. 너는 스스로 너의 날을 앞당겼다. 너에게 정해진 햇수의 기한이 찼다. 그러므로 나는 너를 민족들의 우셋거리로, 모든 나라의 조롱거리로 만든다.

Those near you and those far off shall deride you because of your foul reputation and your great perversity.

▶ 가까이 있는 나라도 멀리 있는 나라도, 이름이 더럽혀지고 혼란으로 가득한 너를 조롱할 것이다.

See! the princes of Israel, family by family, are in you only for bloodshed.

▶ 보아라, 이스라엘의 제후들은 저마다 제 권력을 믿고 네 안에서 사람들의 피를 쏟는다.

|
Within you, father and mother are despised; in your midst, they extort from the resident alien; within you, they oppress orphans and widows.

▶ 네 안에서 사람들은 아버지와 어머니를 업신여기고, 이방인을 억압하며 고아와 과부를 학대한다.

What is holy to me you have spurned, and my sabbaths you have desecrated.

▶ 너는 나의 거룩한 물건들을 무시하고, 나의 안식일을 더럽힌다.

|
There are those in you who slander to cause bloodshed; within you are those who feast on the mountains; in your midst are those who do lewd things.

|
|
|
▶ 네 안에는 남의 피를 쏟으려고 중상하는 자들이 있고, 산 위에서 음식을 먹는 자들이 있으며, 추잡한 짓을 하는 자들이 있다.

In you are those who uncover the nakedness of their fathers, and in you those who coerce women in their menstrual period.

▶ 네 안에서 사람들은 계모와 관계하고 달거리로 부정한 여자를 범한다.

|
There are those in you who do abominable things with the wives of their neighbors, men who defile their daughters-in-law by incest, men who coerce their sisters, the daughters of their own fathers.
|

|
▶ 또 이웃의 아내와 역겨운 짓을 저지르는 자가 있는가 하면, 추잡한 짓으로 며느리를 부정하게 만드는 자도 있고, 자기 아버지의 딸인 누이를 범하는 자도 있다.

|
There are those in you who take bribes to shed blood. You exact interest and usury; you despoil your neighbors violently; and me you have forgotten, says the Lord GOD.

▶ 네 안에서는 사람들이 뇌물을 받아 남의 피를 쏟는다. 너는 변리와 이자를 받고 이웃을 억압하여 착취한다. 그러면서 너는 나를 잊고 있다. 주 하느님의 말이다.

See, I am brushing one hand against the other because of the unjust profits you have made and because of the blood shed in your midst.

Can your heart remain firm, will your hands be strong, in the days when I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will act.

▶ 내가 너를 상대하는 날, 너의 심장이 배겨 나겠느냐? 네 손이 힘을 쓸 수 있겠느냐? 나 주님은 말하고 그대로 실천한다.

I will disperse you among the nations and scatter you over foreign lands, so that I may purge your uncleanness.

▶ 나는 너의 주민들을 민족들 사이로 쫓아 버리고 여러 나라로 흩어 버려, 너에게서 부정을 치우겠다.

In you I will allow myself to be profaned in the eyes of the nations; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
|

▶ 너는 스스로 잘못을 저질러 민족들이 보는 앞에서 더럽혀질 것이다. 그제야 너는 내가 주님임을 알게 될 것이다.’”

Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

|
Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross for me. All of them are bronze and tin, iron and lead (in the midst of a furnace): dross from silver have they become.

▶ “사람의 아들아, 이스라엘 집안은 나에게 쇠 찌꺼기가 되어 버렸다. 모두 용광로에 든 구리와 주석, 쇠와 납이다. 그들은 쇠 찌꺼기가 되어 버렸다.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because all of you have become dross, therefore I must gather you together within Jerusalem.

|
▶ 그러므로 주 하느님이 말한다. 너희가 모두 쇠 찌꺼기가 되어 버렸으니, 나 이제 너희를 예루살렘 한가운데로 모아 놓겠다.

|
Just as silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin are gathered into a furnace and smelted in the roaring flames, so I will gather you together in my furious wrath, put you in, and smelt you.

▶ 은과 구리와 쇠, 납과 주석을 용광로에 모아 놓고 불을 뿜어 녹이듯, 나도 분노와 진노로 너희를 모아다가, 그 안에 넣고 녹여 버리겠다.

When I have assembled you, I will blast you with the fire of my anger and smelt you with it.

▶ 내가 너희를 모아들여 내 격분의 불을 너희에게 뿜어 대면, 너희는 그 안에서 녹아 버릴 것이다.

|
You shall be smelted by it just as silver is smelted in a furnace. Thus you shall know that I, the LORD, have poured out my fury on you.

▶ 은이 용광로 속에서 녹듯이, 너희도 예루살렘 안에서 녹아 버릴 것이다. 그제야 너희는 나 주님이 너희에게 화를 퍼부은 것임을 알게 될 것이다.”

Son of man, say to her: You are a land unrained on (that is, not rained on) at the time of my fury.

|
|
▶ “사람의 아들아, 예루살렘에게 이렇게 말하여라. ‘너는 격분의 날에 깨끗해지지도 못하고, 비를 얻지도 못한 땅이다.
|

|
Her princes are like roaring lions that tear prey; they devour people, seizing their wealth and precious things, and make widows of many within her.

|
▶ 그 안에 있는 제후들은 먹이를 잡아 찢으며 으르렁거리는 사자와 같다. 그들은 사람들을 잡아먹고 보물과 보화를 빼앗으며, 그 안에 과부들을 많이 늘려 놓았다.

|
Her priests violate my law and profane what is holy to me; they do not distinguish between the sacred and the profane, nor teach the difference between the unclean and the clean; they pay no attention to my sabbaths, so that I have been profaned in their midst.

|
▶ 그 사제들은 나의 율법을 짓밟고 나의 거룩한 물건들을 더럽혔다. 거룩한 것과 속된 것을 구별하지 않고, 부정한 것과 정결한 것의 차이를 알려 주지 않았으며, 내 안식일에서는 아예 눈을 돌려 버렸다. 나는 이렇게 그들 사이에서 모독을 당하였다.

|
Her nobles within her are like wolves that tear prey, shedding blood and destroying lives to get unjust gain.

|
▶ 그 안에 있는 대신들은 먹이를 잡아 찢는 이리와 같아, 부정한 소득을 얻으려고 사람의 피를 쏟고 목숨을 파멸시킨다.

|
Her prophets cover them with whitewash, pretending to visions that are false and performing lying divinations, saying, "Thus says the Lord GOD," although the LORD has not spoken.

▶ 그런데도 예루살렘의 예언자들은 그들에게 회칠을 해 주었다. 그들에게 거짓 환시를 보았다 하고 속임수 점괘를 말하며, 주님이 이야기하지 않았는데도, ′주 하느님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다.′ 하고 말하였다.

|
The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they afflict the poor and the needy, and oppress the resident alien without justice.
|

▶ 이 땅의 백성은 남을 억압하고 강도 짓을 하며, 가련한 이와 가난한 이를 학대하고 이방인을 부당하게 억압하였다.

|
Thus I have searched among them for someone who could build a wall or stand in the breach before me to keep me from destroying the land; but I found no one.
|

▶ 이 땅을 멸망시키지 못하도록 성벽을 보수하며 그 성벽이 무너진 곳에 서서 나를 막는 이가 그들 가운데에 행여 있는지 내가 찾아보았지만, 찾아내지 못하였다.

Therefore I have poured out my fury upon them; with my fiery wrath I have consumed them; I have brought down their conduct upon their heads, says the Lord GOD.
