Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

|
Son of man, speak this prophecy: Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry, Oh, the day!

▶ “사람의 아들아, 예언하여라. 너는 말하여라. ‘주 하느님이 이렇게 말한다. ′아, 이날!′ 하며 너희는 울부짖어라.

for near is the day, near is the day of the LORD; a day of clouds, doomsday for the nations shall it be.

|
▶ 그날이 가까웠다. 주님의 날이 가까웠다. 그날은 구름의 날이 되고 민족들에게 운명의 때가 되리라.

|
Then a sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt, when her riches are seized and her foundations are overthrown.

|
▶ 이집트에 칼이 쳐들어오리라. 이집트에서 살해된 자들이 쓰러지고 재물이 약탈당하며 그 기초가 허물어질 때 에티오피아는 전율에 사로잡히리라.

Ethiopia, Put, Lud, all Arabia, Libya, and people of the allied territory shall fall by the sword with them.

▶ 에티오피아와 풋과 루드, 모든 혼합 종족과 쿱과 동맹국 백성들이 이집트인들과 함께 칼에 맞아 쓰러지리라.

Those who support Egypt shall fall, and down shall come her proud strength; from Migdol to Syene they shall fall there by the sword, says the Lord GOD.

▶ 주님이 이렇게 말한다. 이집트의 지지자들은 쓰러지고 이집트의 자랑스러운 힘은 내려앉으리라. 믹돌에서 시에네까지 사람들이 칼에 맞아 쓰러지리라. 주 하느님의 말이다.

She shall be the most devastated of lands, and her cities shall be the most desolate of all.
|

|
▶ 그곳은 황폐한 땅 가운데에서도 가장 황폐한 곳이 되고 그 성읍들은 폐허가 된 성읍들 가운데에서도 가장 큰 폐허가 되리라.

Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and when all who help her are broken.

▶ 내가 이집트에 불을 지르고 그를 돕는 자들이 모두 꺾이면 그제야 그들은 내가 주님임을 알게 되리라.

On that day messengers shall hasten forth at my command to terrify unsuspecting Ethiopia; they shall be in anguish on the day of Egypt, which is surely coming.

▶ 그날에 내가 있는 곳에서 사절들이 배를 타고 나가 안심하고 있는 에티오피아인들을 깜짝 놀라게 하리라. 이집트의 날에 에티오피아인들은 전율에 사로잡히리라. 보아라, 정녕 그날이 다가온다.

Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the throngs of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.

▶ 주 하느님이 이렇게 말한다. 나는 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르의 손으로 이집트 무리들을 없애 버리리라.

|
He and his people with him, the most ruthless of nations, shall be brought in to devastate the land. They shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

▶ 이 나라를 멸망시키기 위하여 그가 가장 잔혹한 민족들로 이루어진 군대와 함께 그곳으로 인도되리라. 그들은 칼을 뽑아 이집트를 쳐서 그 땅을 칼에 맞은 자들로 가득 채우리라.

|
I will turn the Niles into dry land and sell the land over to the power of the wicked. The land and everything in it I will hand over to foreigners to devastate. I, the LORD, have spoken.

▶ 나는 나일 강을 말려 버리고 그 땅을 악한들의 손에 팔아넘기며 땅과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 이방인들의 손으로 황폐하게 만들리라. 나 주님이 말하였다.

Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to the great ones of Memphis and the princes of the land of Egypt, that they may be no more. I will cast fear into the land of Egypt, and devastate Pathros.

▶ 주 하느님이 이렇게 말한다. 나는 우상들을 부수어 버리고 멤피스에서 신상들을 없애 버리며 이집트 땅에 다시는 제후가 나지 않게 하고 이집트 땅에 공포를 퍼뜨리리라.

I will set fire to Zoan, and inflict punishments on Thebes.

I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, Egypt's stronghold, and cut down the crowds in Memphis.

▶ 나는 또 이집트의 요새인 신에 내 화를 퍼붓고 테베의 무리들을 잘라 버리며

|
I will set fire to Egypt; Syene shall writhe in anguish; Thebes shall be breached and its walls shall be demolished.

▶ 이집트에 불을 지르리라. 그러면 신이 고통으로 몸부림치고 테베는 적에게 뚫리며 멤피스는 대낮에 적군을 맞게 되리라.

The young men of On and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword, and the cities themselves shall go into captivity.

▶ 온과 피 베셋의 젊은이들은 칼에 맞아 쓰러지고 주민들은 포로로 끌려가리라.

In Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened when I break the scepter of Egypt. Her haughty pride shall cease from her, clouds shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

▶ 내가 타흐판헤스에서 이집트의 멍에를 부수어 버릴 때 그곳은 대낮인데도 캄캄해지고 그 성읍의 자랑스러운 힘도 다하리라. 구름이 뒤덮인 가운데 그 성읍의 딸들이 포로로 끌려가리라.

Thus will I inflict punishments on Egypt, that they may know that I am the LORD.

On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:

Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and see, it has not been bound up with bandages and healing remedies that it may be strong enough to hold the sword.

▶ “사람의 아들아, 내가 이집트 임금 파라오의 팔을 부러뜨렸다. 보아라, 아무도 그것을 낫게 하려고 묶어 주지도 붕대를 감아 주지도 않아, 그에게는 칼 잡을 힘도 없다.

|
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. I will break his strong arm, so that the sword drops from his hand.

▶ 그러므로 주 하느님이 이렇게 말한다. 나 이제 이집트 임금 파라오를 대적하여 그의 두 팔을, 성한 팔과 이미 부러진 팔을 부러뜨려, 그 손에서 칼이 떨어지게 하겠다.

I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.
|

|
▶ 그런 다음 이집트인들을 민족들 사이로 쫓아 버리고 여러 나라로 흩어 버리겠다.

|
But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand, which he will bring against Egypt so as to plunder and pillage it.

▶ 그리고 바빌론 임금의 팔을 강하게 하고 그의 손에 내 칼을 쥐어 주겠다. 그러나 파라오의 두 팔은 부러뜨리리니, 그는 살해되는 자처럼 바빌론 임금 앞에서 크게 신음할 것이다.

(I will make the arms of the king of Babylon strong, but the arms of Pharaoh shall drop.) Then they shall know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon for him to wield against the land of Egypt.

▶ 나는 이렇게 바빌론 임금의 두 팔은 강하게 하고, 파라오의 두 팔은 떨어져 나가게 하겠다. 내가 바빌론 임금의 손에 내 칼을 쥐어 주어, 그가 이집트 땅을 거슬러 그 칼을 뻗으면, 그제야 그들은 내가 주님임을 알게 될 것이다.
