엘리후의 넷째 담론
1 엘리후가 말을 계속하였다. 1 Elihu proceeded further and said:
하느님의 교육
2 당신께 알려 드릴 터이니 조금만 기다리십시오. 하느님을 대신하여 드릴 말씀이 아직 있습니다. 2 Wait yet a little and I will instruct you, for there are still words to be said on God's behalf.
3 저는 먼 곳에서 지식을 구해 와 저를 지으신 분의 의로움을 밝히겠습니다. 3 I will bring my knowledge from afar, and to my Maker I will accord the right.
4 참으로 제 말은 거짓이 아니며 당신 곁의 이 몸은 완전한 지식을 갖추었습니다. 4 For indeed, my theme cannot fail me: the one perfect in knowledge I set before you.
5 사실 하느님은 위대하신 분이시지만 아무도 업신여기지 않으시고 분별력이 뛰어나신 분이십니다. 5 Behold, God rejects the obstinate in heart; he preserves not the life of the wicked.
6 악인은 살려 두지 않으시고 가련한 이들의 권리는 보장하십니다. 6 He withholds not the just man's rights, but grants vindication to the oppressed,
7 의인에게서 당신의 눈을 떼지 않으시고 늘 임금들과 함께 왕좌에 앉게 하시어 그들을 존귀하게 만들어 주십니다. 7 And with kings upon thrones he sets them, exalted forever.
8 그러나 그들이 사슬에 묶이고 고통의 굴레에 얽매이면 8 Or if they are bound with fetters and held fast by bonds of affliction,
9 그들이 저지른 것을 알려 주십니다, 그들의 죄악들을, 또 교만하게 행동하였음을. 9 Then he makes known to them what they have done and their sins of boastful pride.
10 교훈을 듣도록 그들의 귀를 열어 주시고 악행에서 돌아서라고 명령하십니다. 10 He opens their ears to correction and exhorts them to turn back from evil.
11 그들이 순종하여 그분을 섬기면 자기의 나날을 행복 속에서, 자기의 해들을 즐거움 속에서 마칩니다. 11 If they obey and serve him, they spend their days in prosperity, their years in happiness.
12 그러나 순종하지 않으면 죽음의 수로를 건너게 되고 깨달음 없이 숨을 거두게 됩니다. 12 But if they obey not, they perish; they die for lack of knowledge.
13 마음이 불경스러운 자들은 화를 품어 그분께서 그들을 얽매시어도 도움을 청하지 않습니다. 13 The impious in heart lay up anger for themselves; they cry not for help when he enchains them;
14 그들의 목숨은 한창때에, 그들의 생명은 수치 속에 다해 갑니다. 14 Therefore they expire in youth, and perish among the reprobate.
15 그러나 그분께서는 가련한 이를 그 고통으로 구하시고 재앙으로 그 귀를 열어 주십니다. 15 But he saves the unfortunate through their affliction, and instructs them through distress.
욥에 대한 경고
16 그분께서는 당신도 재난의 아귀에서 끌어내셨습니다, 거칠 것 없이 넓은 곳으로. 당신의 아늑한 식탁은 기름진 음식으로 채워졌습니다. 16 "Therefore he will give you most ample salvation from the narrow mouth which has no foundations beneath it; but the repose of your table will be filled with fatness.
17 그러나 당신은 악인에 대한 심판에 사로잡혀 있습니다. 심판과 재판이 당신을 붙잡고 있는 것입니다. 17 Your case has been judged as that of the wicked; case and judgment you will receive.
18 진노가 넘친다 하여 반항으로 이끌리지도, 속전이 넉넉하다고 하여 현혹되지도 말아야 합니다. 18 Let no wrath, then, overcome you, that you oppress anyone; nor let numerous gifts mislead you.
19 어려움도 온갖 애씀도 없이 얻은 당신의 부가 무슨 소용이 있겠습니까? 19 Lay down your greatness without tribulation, and all who are mighty in strength.
20 밤을 갈망하지 마십시오. 백성들이 제자리에서 사라지는 때입니다. 20 Do not draw out the night, that people may go in place of them."
21 조심하여 악행으로 기울지 마십시오. 그것을 고통보다 더 좋아하시는 것 같군요. 21 Take heed, turn not to evil; for you have preferred carousal to affliction.
22 보십시오, 하느님은 당신 권능으로 숭고하신 분. 누가 그분 같은 스승이 될 수 있습니까? 22 Behold, God is sublime in his power. What teacher is there like him?
23 누가 그분께 길을 지시하였으며 누가 “당신은 불의를 저질렀소.” 하고 말하였습니까? 23 Who prescribes for him his conduct, or who can say, "You have done wrong"?
24 명심하여 그분의 업적을 칭송하십시오, 사람들이 노래한 그 업적을. 24 Remember, you should extol his work, which men have praised in song.
25 모든 사람이 그것을 보아 왔고 인간이면 그것을 멀리서도 볼 수 있답니다. 25 All men contemplate it; man beholds it from afar.
가을의 주님
26 보십시오, 하느님께서는 우리가 깨달을 수 없이 위대하시고 그분의 햇수는 헤아릴 수 없답니다.
27 그분께서 물기를 뽑아 올리시니 안개에서 비가 걸러진답니다. 27 He holds in check the waterdrops that filter in rain through his mists
28 구름이 흘러내리면 수많은 사람들 위로 떨어집니다. 28 Till the skies run with them and the showers rain down on mankind.
29 진정 누가 구름의 넓이를, 그분 거처의 뇌성을 깨달을 수 있습니까?
30 보십시오, 그분께서는 당신 둘레에 빛을 퍼뜨리시고 바다의 밑바닥을 덮으십니다. 30 Lo! he spreads the clouds in layers as the carpeting of his tent.
31 이것들로 민족들을 다스리시며 양식을 풍성히 베푸십니다. 31 For by these he nourishes the nations, and gives them food in abundance.
32 당신 손바닥에 빛을 채우시어 표적을 향하여 내던지십니다. 32 In his hands he holds the lightning, and he commands it to strike the mark.
33 그분의 천둥은 그분의 현존을 선포합니다. 그분은 불의를 거슬러 분노를 터뜨리시는 분이십니다. 33 His thunder speaks for him and incites the fury of the storm.
