주님의 꾸짖으심
1 주님께서 욥에게 계속 말씀하셨다. 1 The LORD then said to Job:
2 불평꾼이 전능하신 분과 논쟁하려는가? 하느님을 비난하는 자는 응답하여라. 2 Will we have arguing with the Almighty by the critic? Let him who would correct God give answer!
욥의 첫째 답변
유구무언
3 그러자 욥이 주님께 대답하였다. 3 Then Job answered the LORD and said:
4 저는 보잘것없는 몸, 당신께 무어라 대답하겠습니까? 손을 제 입에 갖다 댈 뿐입니다. 4 Behold, I am of little account; what can I answer you? I put my hand over my mouth.
5 한 번 말씀드렸으니 대답하지 않겠습니다. 두 번 말씀드렸으니 덧붙이지 않겠습니다. 5 Though I have spoken once, I will not do so again; though twice, I will do so no more.
주님의 둘째 말씀
6 그러자 주님께서 욥에게 폭풍 속에서 말씀하셨다. 6 Then the LORD addressed Job out of the storm and said:
주님의 꾸짖으심
7 사내답게 허리를 동여매어라. 너에게 물을 터이니 대답하여라. 7 Gird up your loins now, like a man. I will question you, and you tell me the answers!
8 네가 나의 공의마저 깨뜨리려느냐? 너 자신을 정당화하려고 나를 단죄하려느냐? 8 Would you refuse to acknowledge my right? Would you condemn me that you may be justified?
9 네가 하느님 같은 팔을 지녔으며 그와 같은 소리로 천둥 칠 수 있느냐? 9 Have you an arm like that of God, or can you thunder with a voice like his?
10 존귀와 엄위로 꾸미고 존엄과 영화로 옷을 입어 보아라. 10 Adorn yourself with grandeur and majesty, and array yourself with glory and splendor.
11 너의 그 격렬한 분노를 쏟아부어라. 교만한 자는 누구든 살펴 그를 낮추어 보아라. 11 Let loose the fury of your wrath;
12 교만한 자는 누구든 살펴 그를 꺾고 악인들은 그 자리에서 짓밟아 보아라. 12 tear down the wicked and shatter them. Bring down the haughty with a glance;
13 그들을 모두 흙 속에 숨기고 숨긴 곳에서 그들의 얼굴을 염포로 묶어 보아라. 13 bury them in the dust together; in the hidden world imprison them.
14 그러면 나도 너를 인정하리니 너의 오른손이 너를 구원할 수 있기 때문이다. 14 Then will I too acknowledge that your own right hand can save you.
브헤못
15 보아라, 내가 너를 만들 때 함께 만든 브헤못을! 그것은 소처럼 풀을 뜯고 있다. 15 See, besides you I made Behemoth, that feeds on grass like an ox.
16 보아라, 그 허리의 힘을, 그 배의 근육을. 16 Behold the strength in his loins, and his vigor in the sinews of his belly.
17 꼬리는 삼나무처럼 쭉 뻗고 허벅지의 힘줄들은 얽혀 있으며 17 He carries his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are like cables.
18 뼈는 구리 통 같고 갈비는 쇠 방망이 같다. 18 His bones are like tubes of bronze; his frame is like iron rods.
19 그것은 하느님의 첫 작품 동료들의 우두머리로 만들어졌다. 19 He came at the beginning of God's ways, and was made the taskmaster of his fellows;
20 산들이 그에게 소출을 바치니 들의 모든 짐승이 곁에서 뛰논다. 20 For the produce of the mountains is brought to him, and of all wild animals he makes sport.
21 그것은 연나무 밑 갈대와 늪으로 된 은신처에 엎드려 있다. 21 Under the lotus trees he lies, in coverts of the reedy swamp.
22 연나무는 그것을 그늘로 가려 주고 냇가의 버드나무는 그것을 에워싸 준다. 22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade; all about him are the poplars on the bank.
23 보아라, 강물이 소용돌이쳐도 그는 질겁하지 않고 요르단 강이 제 입까지 솟구쳐 와도 태연하다. 23 If the river grows violent, he is not disturbed; he is tranquil though the torrent surges about his mouth.
24 그것이 눈을 뜨고 있는데 잡을 수 있으며 올가미로 그 코를 꿸 수 있겠느냐? 24 Who can capture him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a trap?
레비아탄
25 너는 갈고리로 레비아탄을 낚을 수 있으며 줄로 그 혀를 내리누를 수 있느냐? 25 Can you lead about Leviathan with a hook, or curb his tongue with a bit?
26 너는 골풀로 그 코를 꿸 수 있으며 고리로 턱을 꿰뚫을 수 있느냐? 26 Can you put a rope into his nose, or pierce through his cheek with a gaff?
27 그것이 너에게 애걸복걸하며 네게 유순하게 말을 하겠느냐? 27 Will he then plead with you, time after time, or address you with tender words?
28 너는 그것과 계약을 맺어 평생 종으로 부릴 수 있느냐? 28 Will he make an agreement with you that you may have him as a slave forever?
29 너는 그것을 새처럼 노리개로 삼을 수 있으며 네 계집아이들을 위하여 끈으로 묶을 수 있느냐? 29 Can you play with him, as with a bird? Can you put him in leash for your maidens?
30 상인들이 그것을 놓고 흥정을 벌이고 장사꾼들이 그것을 나누어 가질 수 있느냐? 30 Will the traders bargain for him? Will the merchants divide him up?
31 너는 그 살가죽을 창으로, 그 머리를 온통 물고기 작살로 채울 수 있느냐? 31 Can you fill his hide with barbs, or his head with fish spears?
32 손을 그 위에 얹어라도 보아라. 그것과 싸울 생각을 하면 다시는 손도 대지 못한다. 32 Once you but lay a hand upon him, no need to recall any other conflict!
