아론의 아들들 레위인의 임무와 지위 The Sons of Aaron
1 주님께서 시나이 산에서 모세에게 말씀하시던 때에 아론과 모세의 자식들은 이러하다. 1 야훼께서 시나이 산에서 모세에게 말씀하시던 때, 아론과 모세에게는 다음과 같은 자식들이 있었다. 1 The following were the descendants of Aaron and Moses at the time that the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai.
2 아론의 아들들의 이름은 맏아들 나답, 아비후, 엘아자르, 이타마르이다. 2 아론의 아들들의 이름은 맏아들이 나답이요, 그 다음은 아비후, 엘르아잘, 이다말이다. 2 The sons of Aaron were Nadab his first-born, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 이것이 사제직을 수행하도록 직무를 받은, 곧 기름부음을 받은 사제들로서 아론의 아들들의 이름이다. 3 이 이름들은 기름 부음을 받고 사제로 성별되어 사제직을 맡은 아론의 아들들의 이름이다. 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests who were ordained to exercise the priesthood.
4 나답과 아비후는 시나이 광야에서 속된 불을 주님 앞에 바치다가 주님 앞에서 죽었다. 그들에게는 아들이 없었기 때문에, 엘아자르와 이타마르가 아버지 아론 밑에서 사제직을 수행하였다. 4 나답과 아비후는 시나이 광야에서 야훼께 속된 불을 드리다가 야훼 앞에서 죽었는데, 그들에게는 자식이 없어서 엘르아잘과 이다말이 아버지 아론 앞에서 사제 일을 맡게 되었다. 4 But when Nadab and Abihu offered profane fire before the LORD in the desert of Sinai, they met death in the presence of the LORD, and left no sons. Thereafter only Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly functions under the direction of their father Aaron.
레위인들의 임무 Levites in Place of the First-born
5 주님께서 모세에게 이르셨다. 5 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 5 Now the LORD said to Moses:
6 “너는 레위 지파를 가까이 오게 하여, 그들을 아론 사제 앞에 세워서 그를 시중들게 하여라. 6 "너는 레위 지파를 불러내어 아론 사제 밑에 두고 그의 시중을 들게 하여라. 6 "Summon the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest, as his assistants.
7 그들은 성막의 일을 하여, 만남의 천막 앞에서 아론을 위한 임무와 온 공동체를 위한 임무를 수행해야 한다. 7 그들은 성막에서 봉사할 사람들로서, 만남의 장막 앞에서 아론이 할 일과 회중이 할 일을 돕는 직무를 맡는다. 7 They shall discharge his obligations and those of the whole community before the meeting tent by serving at the Dwelling.
8 그들은 또한 만남의 천막에 있는 모든 기물을 보살피고 성막의 일을 하여, 이스라엘 자손들을 위한 임무를 수행해야 한다. 8 만남의 장막의 모든 기구를 보살피고 이스라엘 백성이 할 일을 돕는다. 이것이 그들이 성막에서 해야 할 일이다. 8 They shall have custody of all the furnishings of the meeting tent and discharge the duties of the Israelites in the service of the Dwelling.

10 너는 아론과 그의 아들들을 임명하여 사제직을 수행하게 하여라. 속인이 다가왔다가는 죽을 것이다.” 10 너는 아론과 그의 아들들을 세워 사제 일을 맡아보게 하여라. 다른 사람이 나섰다가는 죽으리라." 10 But only Aaron and his descendants shall you appoint to have charge of the priestly functions. Any layman who comes near shall be put to death."
레위인들을 선택하시다
11 주님께서 모세에게 이르셨다. 11 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 11 The LORD said to Moses,
12 “나는 이제 이스라엘 자손들 가운데에서 태를 맨 먼저 열고 나온 모든 맏아들 대신, 레위인들을 이스라엘 자손들 가운데에서 골라 갖는다. 레위인들은 나의 것이 된다. 12 "나는 이제 이스라엘 백성 가운데서 레위인들을 뽑아, 이스라엘 백성 중에서 처음 태어나는 모든 맏아들 대신으로 삼았다. 그러므로 레위인들은 나의 것이다. 12 "It is I who have chosen the Levites from the Israelites in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites. The Levites, therefore, are mine,
13 처음 난 것은 모두 나의 것이기 때문이다. 내가 이집트 땅에서 처음 난 것들을 모두 치던 날, 사람에서 짐승에 이르기까지 처음 난 것은 모두 나의 것으로 성별하였다. 그것들은 나의 것이 된다. 나는 주님이다.” 13 처음 난 것은 모두 나의 것이기 때문이다. 이집트 땅에서 처음 난 모든 것을 치던 날, 나는 이스라엘에서 처음 태어난 것은 사람이건 짐승이건 모두 나의 것으로 구분하여 나의 것으로 삼았다. 나는 야훼이다." 13 because every first-born is mine. When I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I made all the first-born in Israel sacred to me, both of man and of beast. They belong to me; I am the LORD."
레위인들의 첫 번째 인구 조사 Census of the Levites
14 주님께서 시나이 광야에서 모세에게 이르셨다. 14 야훼께서 시나이 광야에서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 14 The LORD said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,
15 “너는 레위의 자손들을 집안과 씨족별로 사열하여라. 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 남자를 모두 사열해야 한다.” 15 "너는 레위 후손들을 각 갈래와 가문별로 등록하여라. 난 지 한 달 이상 되는 사내아이는 모두 등록시켜야 한다." 15 "Take a census of the Levites by ancestral houses and clans, registering every male of a month or more."
16 모세는 주님의 분부에 따라, 명령을 받은 대로 그들을 사열하였다. 16 모세는 야훼의 말씀을 따라, 지시받은 대로 그들을 등록시켰다. 16 Moses, therefore, took their census in accordance with the command the LORD had given him.
17 레위의 아들들의 이름은 게르손, 크핫, 므라리이다. 17 레위에게는 게르손과 크핫과 므라리라는 이름을 가진 아들들이 있었다. 17 The sons of Levi were named Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
18 씨족에 따라 본 게르손의 아들들의 이름은 리브니와 시므이이다. 18 게르손에게서는 리브니와 시므이라는 이름을 가진 아들들의 갈래가 생겼다. 18 The descendants of Gershon, by clans, were named Libni and Shimei.
19 씨족에 따라 본 크핫의 아들들은 아므람, 이츠하르, 헤브론, 우찌엘이다. 19 크핫에게서는 아들 아므람, 이스할, 헤브론, 우찌엘의 갈래가 생겼다. 19 The descendants of Kohath, by clans, were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.
20 씨족에 따라 본 므라리의 아들들은 마흘리와 무시이다. 이것이 집안에 따라 본 레위의 씨족들이다. 20 므라리에게서는 아들 마흘리와 무시의 갈래가 생겼다. 레위인들의 가문에서는 위와 같은 갈래들이 생겼다. 20 The descendants of Merari, by clans, were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites by ancestral houses.
21 게르손에게는 리브니 씨족과 시므이 씨족이 속하였다. 이들이 게르손의 씨족들이다. 21 게르손에게서는 리브니 갈래와 시므이 갈래가 생겨 게르손의 갈래를 이루었다. 21 To Gershon belonged the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these were the clans of the Gershonites.
22 그들 가운데에서 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 모든 남자의 수를 헤아리며 사열하니, 사열을 받은 이들은 칠천오백 명이었다. 22 그들 가운데서 난 지 한 달 이상 되는 남자를 등록시키니 모두 칠천오백 명이었다. 22 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered seven thousand five hundred.
23 게르손의 씨족들은 성막 뒤 서쪽에 진을 치게 되어 있었고, 23 게르손의 갈래들은 성막 뒤인 서쪽에 진을 치게 되어 있다. 23 The clans of the Gershonites camped behind the Dwelling, to the west.
24 그 게르손의 집안 수장은 라엘의 아들 엘야삽이었다. 24 게르손 가문의 책임자는 라엘의 아들 엘랴삽이었다. 24 The prince of their ancestral house was Eliasaph, son of Lael.
25 게르손의 자손들이 만남의 천막에서 맡은 임무는 성막과 천막과 그 덮개, 만남의 천막 어귀를 가리는 막, 25 게르손 후손들이 만남의 장막에서 맡은 일은 성막과 그 덮개와 만남의 장막 문간 휘장과 25 At the meeting tent they had charge of whatever pertained to the Dwelling, the tent and its covering, the curtain at the entrance of the meeting tent,
26 뜰의 휘장, 성막과 제단을 둘러싼 뜰의 어귀를 가리는 막, 그리고 온갖 일에 쓰는 줄들을 관리하는 것이었다. 26 성막과 제단을 두르는 울의 휘장과 울 정문 휘장과 이 모든 것을 매는 줄을 건사하는 것이었다. 26 the hangings of the court, the curtain at the entrance of the court enclosing both the Dwelling and the altar, and the ropes.
27 크핫에게는 아므람 씨족, 이츠하르 씨족, 헤브론 씨족, 우찌엘 씨족이 속하였다. 이들이 크핫의 씨족들이다. 27 크핫에게서 아므람 갈래, 이스할 갈래, 헤브론 갈래와 우찌엘 갈래가 나와 크핫 가문의 갈래를 이루었다. 27 To Kohath belonged the clans of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites; these were the clans of the Kohathites.
28 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 모든 남자의 수를 헤아리니 팔천육백 명이었는데, 이들은 성소에서 임무를 수행하는 사람들이었다. 28 한 달 이상 되는 남자의 수는 모두 팔천육백 명이었는데 이들은 성소를 지키는 일을 맡았다. 28 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered eight thousand three hundred. They had charge of the sanctuary.
29 크핫 자손 씨족들은 성막 옆 남쪽에 진을 치게 되어 있었다. 29 크핫 후손들의 갈래는 성막의 남쪽 가에 진을 치게 되어 있었다. 29 The clans of the Kohathites camped at the south side of the Dwelling.
30 크핫 씨족들의 집안 수장은 우찌엘의 아들 엘리차판이었다. 30 크핫 갈래의 가문 책임자는 우찌엘의 아들 엘리사반이었다. 30 The prince of their ancestral house was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.
31 그들의 임무는 궤와 상과 등잔대, 제단들과 예식에 쓰는 성소의 기물들과 휘장의 관리, 그리고 이것과 관련된 온갖 일이었다. 31 그들이 맡은 일은 계약궤와 제사 상과 등잔대와 제단들, 예식에 쓰이는 거룩한 도구들, 휘장과 거기에 딸린 모든 부속품을 건사하는 것이었다. 31 They had charge of whatever pertained to the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the utensils with which the ministry of the sanctuary was exercised, and the veil.
32 레위인들의 최고 수장은 아론 사제의 아들 엘아자르였는데, 그는 성소에서 임무를 수행하는 이들의 감독이었다. 32 레위인들의 최고 책임자는 아론 사제의 아들 엘르아잘인데, 그는 성소를 맡아 보살피는 사람들을 감독하는 책임을 졌다. 32 The chief prince of the Levites, however, was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest; he was supervisor over those who had charge of the sanctuary.
33 므라리에게는 마흘리 씨족과 무시 씨족이 속하였다. 이들이 므라리의 씨족들이다. 33 므라리에게서 마흘리 갈래와 무시 갈래가 나와 므라리 갈래를 이루었다. 33 To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites; these were the clans of Merari.
34 그들 가운데에서 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 모든 남자의 수를 헤아리며 사열하니, 육천이백 명이었다. 34 한 달 이상 되는 남자로서 등록된 자의 총수는 육천이백 명이었다. 34 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered six thousand two hundred.
35 므라리 씨족들의 집안 수장은 아비하일의 아들 추리엘이었다. 이들은 성막 옆 북쪽에 진을 치게 되어 있었다. 35 므라리 갈래들의 가문 책임자는 아비하일의 아들 수리엘이었다. 이들은 성막 북쪽 가에 진을 치게 되어 있었다. 35 The prince of the ancestral house of the clans of Merari was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They camped at the north side of the Dwelling.
36 므라리의 자손들에게 맡겨진 임무는 성막의 널빤지, 가로다지, 기둥, 밑받침들과 거기에 딸린 모든 기물의 관리, 성막과 관련된 모든 일, 36 므라리 후손들이 맡은 일은 성막의 널빤지, 가로다지, 기둥, 밑받침과 거기에 딸린 기구들과 부속품, 36 The Merarites were charged with the care of whatever pertained to the boards of the Dwelling, its bars, columns, pedestals, and all its fittings,
37 그리고 뜰 둘레에 세우는 기둥과 밑받침, 말뚝과 줄들을 관리하는 것이었다. 37 또 울에 돌아가며 세운 기둥과 밑받침, 말뚝, 줄을 모두 건사하는 일이었다. 37 as well as the columns of the surrounding court with their pedestals, pegs and ropes.
38 성막 앞 동쪽으로, 곧 만남의 천막 앞 해 뜨는 쪽으로 진을 칠 이들은 모세와 아론과 그 아들들이었다. 이들은 이스라엘 자손들의 임무를 대신하여 성소에서 임무를 수행하는 사람들이었다. 속인이 다가왔다가는 죽게 되어 있었다. 38 만남의 장막 동쪽인 성막 앞 정면에 진을 칠 사람들은 모세와 아론과 그 아들들이었다. 이들이 이스라엘 백성이 할 일을 맡아서 성소에서 대신 해주는 자들이었다. 여느 사람이 가까이하다가는 죽었다. 38 East of the Dwelling, that is, in front of the meeting tent, toward the sunrise, were camped Moses and Aaron and the latter's sons. They discharged the obligations of the sanctuary for the Israelites. Any layman who came near was to be put to death.
39 모세와 아론이 주님의 분부에 따라 씨족별로 사열한 레위인들은 모두, 곧 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 남자는 모두 이만 이천 명이었다. 39 모세와 아론이 야훼의 말씀을 따라 레위인들을 각 갈래별로 등록시키니, 난 지 한 달 이상 되는 남자가 모두 이만 이천 명이었다. 39 The total number of male Levites a month old or more whom Moses had registered by clans in keeping with the LORD'S command, was twenty-two thousand.
레위인과 맏아들 Census and Ransom of First-born
40 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “이스라엘 자손들 가운데에서 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 맏아들을 모두 사열하고 그들의 이름을 세어라. 40 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 이스라엘 백성 중에서 난 지 한 달 이상 되는 맏아들을 모두 등록시키고 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 세어라. 40 The LORD then said to Moses, "Take a census of all the first-born males of the Israelites a month old or more, and compute their total number.
41 이스라엘 자손들의 모든 맏아들 대신에 레위인들을, 그리고 이스라엘 자손들이 가진 가축의 모든 맏배 대신에 레위인들의 가축을 나의 것으로 골라내어라. 나는 주님이다.” 41 이스라엘 백성의 모든 맏아들 대신 레위인들을 구별하여 세우고 이스라엘 백성의 가축의 모든 맏배 대신 레위인들의 가축을 구별하여 세워 나 야훼의 것으로 삼아라." 41 Then assign the Levites to me, the LORD, in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, as well as their cattle in place of all the first-born among the cattle of the Israelites."
42 모세는 주님께서 명령하신 대로 이스라엘 자손들의 모든 맏아들을 사열하였다. 42 모세는 야훼께 지시받은 대로 이스라엘 백성의 맏아들을 모두 등록시켰다. 42 So Moses took a census of all the first-born of the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded him.
43 그들 가운데에서 태어난 지 한 달 이상 된 맏아들을 모두 호명하며 사열하니, 이만 이천이백칠십삼 명이었다. 43 그들 가운데서 맏아들로 태어나 한 달 이상 되는 남자를 등록시키고 일일이 호명하여 그 수를 세어보니, 모두 이만 이천이백칠십삼 명이었다. 43 When all the first-born males of a month or more were registered, they numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44 주님께서 모세에게 이르셨다. 44 야훼께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. 44 The LORD said to Moses:
45 “이스라엘 자손들의 모든 맏아들 대신에 레위인들을, 그리고 이스라엘 자손들의 가축 대신에 레위인들의 가축을 골라내어라. 레위인들은 나의 것이 된다. 나는 주님이다. 45 "너는 레위인들을 이스라엘 백성의 모든 맏아들 대신으로 받아들여라. 또 레위인들의 가축을 이스라엘 백성들의 가축 대신으로 받아들여라. 레위인들은 나의 것이다. 나는 야훼이다. 45 "Take the Levites in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle in place of their cattle, that the Levites may belong to me. I am the LORD.
46 이스라엘 자손들의 맏아들 가운데에서 레위인들의 수를 넘는 이백칠십삼 명의 대속 값으로는, 46 이스라엘 백성의 맏아들 수에서 레위인들의 수를 빼면 이백칠십삼 명이 남는데, 그들은 물어내는 값으로 46 As ransom for the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites who outnumber the Levites,
47 한 사람에 다섯 세켈씩 받아라. 스무 게라가 한 세켈이 되는 성소 세켈로 받아라. 47 한 사람에 오 세겔씩 물게 하되, 성소 세겔로 물게 하여라. 한 세겔은 이십 게라이다. 47 you shall take five shekels for each individual, according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs to the shekel.
48 이렇게 수를 넘는 이들을 위한 대속 값으로 아론과 그의 아들들에게 이 돈을 주어라.” 48 이렇게 남은 사람을 물어내기 위하여 치른 돈은 아론과 그의 아들들에게 주도록 하여라." 48 Give this silver to Aaron and his sons as ransom for the extra number."
49 그리하여 모세는 레위인들이 대속한 사람들의 수를 넘는 이들에게서 대속 값을 받았다. 49 그래서 모세는 레위인들의 수를 빼고 남은 사람들만큼 물어내는 돈을 받았다. 49 So Moses took the silver as ransom from those who were left when the rest had been redeemed by the Levites.
50 이스라엘 자손들의 맏아들에게서 받은 돈은 성소 세켈로 천삼백육십오 세켈이었다. 50 이 이스라엘 백성의 맏아들들에게서 받은 돈이 성소의 세겔로 천삼백육십오 세겔이 되었다. 50 From the first-born of the Israelites he received in silver one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels according to the sanctuary standard.
51 모세는 주님의 분부에 따라, 주님께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 이 대속 값을 아론과 그의 아들들에게 주었다. 51 야훼의 말씀대로 모세는 돈을 아론과 그의 아들들에게 내어주었다. 그는 이렇게 야훼께 지시받은 대로 하였다. 51 He then gave this ransom silver to Aaron and his sons, as the LORD had commanded him.
