주님의 말씀이 나에게 내렸다. |

야훼께서 나에게 이런 말씀을 내리셨다. |

Thus the word of the LORD came to me: |

“사람의 아들아, 포도나무가 다른 어떤 나무보다, 숲의 나무들 사이에 있는 덩굴보다 나은 게 무엇이냐? |

"너 사람아, 포도덩굴이 무엇이냐? 숲 속에 얽힌 덩굴과 다를 게 무엇이냐? |

Son of man, what makes the wood of the vine better than any other wood? That branch among the trees of the forest! |

거기에서 무엇을 만들 재목이 나오겠느냐? 아니면 무엇이라도 걸어 둘 못을 만들 수 있겠느냐? |

거기에서 가구를 만들 재목이 나겠느냐? 무엇을 걸어둘 못을 만들겠느냐? |

Can you use its wood to make anything worthwhile? Can you make even a peg from it, to hang on it any kind of vessel? |

보아라, 그것은 땔감으로 불에 들어간다. 양쪽 끝은 불에 타 버리고 가운데는 그을렸으니 그것을 무엇에 쓰겠느냐? |

보아라, 땔감으로 불에 들어간다. 양쪽 끝은 타고 가운데는 그을었는데, 그것을 무엇에 쓰겠느냐? |

If you throw it on the fire as fuel and the fire devours both ends and even the middle is scorched, is it still good for anything? |

그것이 옹글 때에도 무엇 하나 만들 수 없었는데 하물며 불에 타고 그을렸으니 무엇을 만들 수 있겠느냐? |

옹근 대로 있어도 쓸모가 없을 터인데, 하물며 불에 타 그을은 것을 어디에다 쓰겠느냐! |

Why, even when it was whole it was good for nothing; how much less, when the fire has devoured and scorched it, can it be used for anything! |

그러므로 주 하느님이 말한다. 숲의 나무들 사이에 있는 포도나무를 땔감으로 불에 집어넣듯이 내가 예루살렘 주민들도 그렇게 하리라. |

주 야훼가 말한다. 숲 속에서 자란 포도덩굴을 땔감으로 불에 집어넣듯 예루살렘에 사는 자들을 나는 불에 집어넣으리라. |

Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD: Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have destined as fuel for the fire, do I make the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |

나는 그들에게 얼굴을 돌리리라. 그들이 불에서 빠져나온다 해도 불이 다시 그들을 삼켜 버리리라. 이렇게 내가 그들에게 얼굴을 돌릴 때에야 너희는 내가 주님임을 알게 되리라. |

불에서 빠져 나오다가도 내가 화가 나서 노려보면 불에 타 죽고 말리라. 내가 화가 나서 노려보리니, 그제야 너희는 내가 야훼임을 알리라. |

I will set my face against them; they have escaped from the fire, but the fire shall devour them. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD, when I turn my face against them. |

그들이 배신을 하였기에 나는 그 땅을 황무지가 되게 하리라. 주 하느님의 말이다.” |

나를 배신하였으니 내가 그 땅을 쑥밭으로 만들리라. 주 야훼가 하는 말이다." |

I will make the land a waste, because they have broken faith, says the Lord GOD. |
